It took a lot of work to get it to this stage though. Out of the box HE500 is pretty underwhelming, not gonna lie.

They're near ideal for me as well... in my setup that is.

 
BTW Nimzerz if you're driving them from your laptop don't expect the world. Get the Magni/Modi as soon as you can afford them and don't forget to let your headphones and also your mind burn in for a hundred hours or so...
 
I personally believe in a long burn in period for the 500s but that's just me and my 4 pairs I've had.

Yes welcome to "almost-summit-fi." LOL. But yeah coming from mid-tiers like the HD650/DT880/Q701 the HE-500 can be quite a shock, especially off a speaker amp. God-tier indeed.

 (keeps getting better, so burn those babies in, along with your mind for the next 100 hours or so.)

Seeing this thread go from someone unsure of HE-500s to being blown away reassures me in my purchase. I just purchased (Paypal pending) the NFB 11.32 and HE-500s from the forums. Really excited to hop on the bandwagon!
