I received the carrying case for HE 400 few days ago. It is perfect for air travel.
Have you looked at audio GD 15.32 or 11.32. I received 11.32 on last friday. I am very much pleased with the SQ of HE 400 when paired with 11.32.

Do you know where I can purchase a case online? I'm up in Canada and I usually can't find anything up here.

I haven't looked into that headphone preamp yet. I've been doing a lot of research and shall add that one to the list!

I bought from a reseller located in France. Can you order in headdirect (http://head-direct.com/Products/?act=detail&id=118)?

audio gd 11.32/15.32 is worth for considering

Jeebus... I did something by accident that certainly in no way helps the he400 accurately produce sounds. While putting some Radiohead onto the turntable, I accidentally hot a button on my stereo receiver called vmax, which I think tries to simulate a surround sound experience on 2 speakers. At first I was wondering what I did to my phones!

word... i installed razer synapse surround sound audio drivers on my computer to see if it would make the he400 sound better & it didn't help. the he400 already has such a great sound stage you don't need surround sound simulation.

For the price and the stackability, yea, just get the Modi.

+1, I have the modi right now and it is just fantastic

I mean, it wouldn't be a good permanent set-up I bet, but I'm sure it would work for a while. I know Koiloco said that the e12 powered/sounded pretty decent on the he500. Nothing like the emotiva, but still pretty impressive for that unit.

Ideally I'd prefer something other than an e12, but it does have the portable aspect, hence why I'm considering it vs the vali or magni, and similarly priced too

I'm not surprised
