Well, as much as I love the he400 and 500 even more, the weight on the 500 becomes prohibitive for me. Get me that he500 sound in something lighter and more comfortable and it makes a compelling product.

Oh and dont get me wrong, I would LOVE it if the HE-400/HE-500 were lighter in weight! But the FACT is that the newer lighter versions (HE-400i and HE-560) ARE NOT the same technology means that the "new" is NOT the same loved HE-400/HE-500 improved, they are entirely different cans with an entirely different design/drivers/headband/etc. They are like starting all over.

This is true. And because the hp is radically redesigned, it will either go forward or backward. My money's on forward.

My money's on half and half. It will probably improve in ways that keep the HE500 and other models unique and desired, but will still improve on aspects that the he500 lack compared so some (like air, soundstage, and weight of course)

Not even opened and going back. Well, with LCD3s at home can't say I will regret it too much.

Yeah I doubt anyone would blame you in returning those if you have the LCD-3...haha

I bought it to use in my new office. I just sold my biz, moved in and realized I will only be in the new place 3 months or so. It's not only all the talk bout new models I just won't have a need for them soon.

Plus I just bought a flagship IEM and that's enough dosh spent on audio for awhile.

I would never bring the LCDs back and forth btw.

Gonna miss all you guys here on the 400 thread. Passion you all got!!

Jeebus... I did something by accident that certainly in no way helps the he400 accurately produce sounds. While putting some Radiohead onto the turntable, I accidentally hot a button on my stereo receiver called vmax, which I think tries to simulate a surround sound experience on 2 speakers. At first I was wondering what I did to my phones!

Still enjoying my pair I got a few days ago. My first real audiophile cans and they're perfect. Sooner or later I will snag a headphone amp and a new cable. I wish I had a storage case for mine as the bag seems to be a tight fit.

Actually, so far I prefer HE400 to every Audeze I've listened to (heard all except XC) and every Hifiman, which includes HE500 and HE6. I think HE400 is the best planar, but the future is bright with new Hifimans . . .

I received the carrying case for HE 400 few days ago. It is perfect for air travel.
Have you looked at audio GD 15.32 or 11.32. I received 11.32 on last friday. I am very much pleased with the SQ of HE 400 when paired with 11.32.
