Strange, I cannot see the magents clearly through the grill. It seems to be covered by foam cloth on my unit. Why are other units so visible?

Edited: Just realized there is a silent revision on the Ananda. The newer revision has:
1. Thicker foam over the front driver
2. The inner foam is also stuck to the driver, instead of the pads
3. Different material on the baffle surrounding the inner driver

Hi, I 'll be receiving my Ananda headphones in two days, which I ordered direct from Hifiman, and I was wondering where you found this "silent revision" info as I was not aware of it. I hope the change in the baffles is not a detriment. I'll post in two days when my Ananda arrives and will comment on if the baffle is transparent, or not, as well as the inside baffle. I had no idea about any of this, thanks.

My dealer told me. I think you will get the new one.

You know there were quite a lot of complaints about imperfections on the drivers from many users? I think Hifiman wants to cover the drivers so it wont be so visible for us. But they will probably say something like to prevent dust from entering the drivers.

Hi, my Ananda finally arrive, which took a week from Hifiman, and the baffles are identical to my HEX V2. Also, my magnets are 100% scratch and mark free.

So....Ananda out of the XD-05, very nice.
However....
I already had a balanced cable for my 400i's - didn't want to spend the money at this point getting yet another one for the Ananda, but I did pick up some 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapters (I know, very dangerous, I won't use them for too long)
So was able to run the Ananda from balanced out on the Fiio M11.

Wow.

Big difference, especially in soundstage. Depth is really increased, width too though not quite as much. But this is clearly the way I need to listen to these cans, they are AMAZING.
The XD-05, despite the fact that I love it, throttles the high frequency detail from the M11. I knew this before but needed to use it to give the Ananda the power it needed. Without that bottleneck, all the micro-details flow through to the cans and the full signal is represented.
Absolutely lovely, wonderful presentation with high and low extremities represented incredibly well without being boomy or sharp.
So I'm not too old (yet) for the holographic magic and these are certainly my end-game planars.

Also, I have to say, once again very very satisfied with Fiio's player. Balanced out has more power than single ended and I'm only going up to 80 (of 120) to get loud, so still plenty of space left. And it is obviously a big part in that lovely presentation.

I'm a very happy audio geek!

Hi, thanks for sharing your experience. I have ananda and considering to buy fiio m11. Only thing that scares me is people saying that fiio is bright DAP and little bass-light. Can you tell me your opinion if the combo is little bit too thin? I am also scared of potential sibilance with the pairing.

I had the Ananda on tour. I also have the Fiio M11. The M11 is a good sounding DAP, and it brings out the qualities of the Ananda. It's not thin at all, especially with something as easy to run as the Ananda

I just want to share the my sad story.. I've been eyeing Anandas for a long time and at the end was scammed hard -500€
I've found a used Ananda in Germany on quoka.de site, so I messaged the seller, she offered to use the forwarding company "gvahaulage.com" and agreed.
You can imagine how it ended..
In the end its probably my fault as I should use paypal, but everything seemed ok till the end.
Well, all the money I've saved on buying used gear over the years are now gone.. Lesson learned, the hard way.



Just sharing it here, maybe someone can find it informative. If anyone has some advice what can I do, please pm me, but I don't believe I will see my money again, judging from how carefuly prepared this whole scam was.

Below are a few initial impressions of mine while I have the loaner Ananda unit with me for the next two weeks. Hifiman set up the Ananda loaner tour and they only requested that I provide my honest opinion of them.

Packaging/Build Quality: The cans come in a nice sturdy box (leather?) befitting their price point. I a bit disappointed that there wasn't a balanced cable, but these cans are really efficient at 25 Ohms and 103dB/mW (more on that later). As for the cans themselves, the metal gimbals and the metal headband are sturdy and do the job. Like others stated elsewhere, I thought I was going to be concerned with the lack of swivel from the newest Hifiman headband, but the cans ended up fitting my head just fine due to the stock angled hybrid pads. The weight and the clamp force are just about perfect in my book.

The ratcheting adjustment system for the loaner unit was a little hit or miss from me. For example, the right side slides up and down fairly straightforwardly with the required amount of force for adjustment being just about right. The left side, however, was more difficult to slide due to the larger amount of force (far more than the right side) needed for adjustment. I don't know if this issue is simply isolated to the loaner unit, but it is rather annoying. Lastly, as reported elsewhere, the paint of the inner sides of the arms of the earcups are stripped from previous adjustments.

Sound: One word popped in my mind when I first listened to these cans through my Schitt stack at work: neutrality. My opinion didn't change when I listened to these cans at home (SDAC-B > THX AAA 789). As a testament to their efficiency, my volume knobs are about 10 o'clock on low gain (Magni 3) and 8 o'clock on higher gain (Magni 3; THX AAA 789 - second gain). Having just listened to the AKG K501 and its concert hall soundstage before the Ananda arrived, the soundstage of the Ananda was less wide in comparison upon initial listen and the sound didn't swirl around my head as much as they did in the AKG K501 (Shoji Yamashiro's "Kaneda" from Akira [Symphony Suite] - VDR-1532). Still, I am enjoying the Ananda so far and it has many things going for it over more specialist cans like the AKG K501. I'll elaborate more in my full review later.

Does anyone know what I can check with my multimeter to diagnose one of the drivers not putting out any sound? It happened abruptly. All the soldering connections look secure, but I was wondering if I can measure with mV, ohms, or mA to see exactly where the failure is on the driver.

Why dont you juat contact hifiman, mate?
