Yep, sometimes even the extra 5% is worth significantly more, if you can afford it. If you can live without it, all good too. For most people, good is good enough. For us crazies, there's no real limit (other than financial ruin).Nice rationalization but nah and it's personal. If something is 10% better, whatever that is, but that 10% makes the goose bump threshold, is it worth 30% more, if you say no, you're in this for the wrong reasons.

You need a file to put in there. I'm currently offering to craft a custom convolver configuration file for anyone who names the earphones they're using, as well as describe their listening impressions on their DAP using them.and once you get here, how do you proceed?

I expanded an may have gone too far, LOL. No offense intended for gofifus. Mine wasn't a hobbyist take though I'm guilty as well. For portable I personally need to find a setup that sounds accurate enough and lines things up well enough for some goosebumbs on the right material. 1st time I got that from portable was with some jh13fp/hybrid cable and an original AK120 which I swear were voiced for each other, LOL.Yep, sometimes even the extra 5% is worth significantly more, if you can afford it. I tried and it changed nothing...I wonder, does NOS need to be switched off to apply/hear filters?

We definitely measure differences between the 10 Darwin presets in their stopband (i.e. >22kHz) behaviour, but I have to wonder if other manufacturers are incorporating actual audible band EQs into their so called AA filter presets. After all, in the audio world, an EQ by any other name is almost always sweeter than the actual thing...

in which screen?Hey @Joe Bloggs please do us (or at least me) a small favour? Would you please just make the battery charging indicator a bit bigger? When it sleeps, the battery percentage is just so small.

I have Tansio Mirai Spark and Empire Ears ESR Mk II.You need a file to put in there. I'm currently offering to craft a custom convolver configuration file for anyone who names the earphones they're using, as well as describe their listening impressions on their DAP using them.

that's a good start--can you describe what you are hearing from them? Let's concentrate on one set first, probably whichever is your "daily driver" or whichever you seek improvement for the more. (which can be the "inferior" or the "superior" pair, depending on your mindset).I have Tansio Mirai Spark and Empire Ears ESR Mk II.
What are the high and low points of the sound of the earphones on the RS6? Do you hear anything being overemphasized? Underemphasized? What qualities would you seek to improve? etc.

Try turning off NOS and then switch to Darwin 10. Does that sound different? Listen to attack and decay.I tried and it changed nothing...

Regarding when and how oversampling is applied: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hib...oid-music-player.958878/page-93#post-16672671Picked up a RS6 last week from Musicteck (great service, as always!) and as it’s starting to settle in I have been playing a bit with the settings.
@Joe Bloggs I believe earlier in the thread you mentioned that you were intending to suggest that the antialiasing filter names be changed to descriptive names. I’d like to second that notion
If I had to guess, Darwin 10 is some sort of linear phase filter. That’s what I’m using it as, at least, when I want that sort of OS linear phase-ish sound. It sure would be easier for me to fool my ear-brain if the filters had names—also less time consuming with intent listening. I prefer to listen to music rather than figure these out, but sometimes I want something other than the NOS sound, so..
Also, I believe someone above was commenting that OS is only applied to MQA. I believe you have to explicitly turn NOS off, then adjust filters away from Darwin Default to hear the various filters applied with OS. Idk if any of those are changing the OS rate (Joe?), that would be cool, if so.
Does anyone know how to switch the forward/rewind buttons? I’d prefer the top to be FFWD and the bottom of be RWD.
In any case, I’m enjoying it over the last day or so. It’s definitely a different animal vs my ZX507, and a great improvement over the last Hiby I had (R6 Pro), except form factor (to be expected) and I far prefer volume buttons to a knob.

Ah, so no ability to change from 16x to something like 8x, 4x, etc. bummer.Regarding when and how oversampling is applied: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hib...oid-music-player.958878/page-93#post-16672671
In any case, @Joe Bloggs please ask the Hiby team to name the AA filters with descriptive names and not “Darwin 1, Darwin 2, etc.” It’s time consuming to have to figure this out by careful listening.
The screen showing the machine is charging (with a battery icon and a percentage figure) when the player is off.in which screen?
Hey guys, I know @Joe Bloggs has already mentioned this in passing above, but please help spread the word about this generous offer:
