Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

Just for reference, HKD 4998 is the actual official price in Hong Kong, much like USD 799 in the US. Some physical store offer a discount. It is unfortunate they are unlikely to give such discount to online sales, as I guess it is somehow against the agreement between the distributor and retailer.

The R6 pro is not too well received in Hong Kong. People are fairly paranoid about the EMI issue. Personally it is not that significant, competitive pricing and brand savvy nature certainly point people to other more established options.

Thats good to know.. I had assumed the HK$ 4998 (US$ 630) price for the Pro (international version) is only temporary and will be lifted soon. I hope more head-fiers make use of such a good price over time - once they figured out a way to have it shipped out of Hong Kong to their locations.

Didn't know that the Pro isn't gaining much traction in Hong Kong. Could it also be that the Hiby is seen as somewhat of a "local" (Chinese brand), and hence doesn't have much "status" with it as a local home brand, and consumers in HK are more keen on foreign and imported branded daps?

Quick update: just got my R6Pro from Nayparm. Only tested it for about 10 minutes but did not notice any interference at all near mobile phone or router using 4.4mm with HD800 and Sony Z1R. Even made a phone call near it just to see if it picks anything.

It is not about 150$..... it is about being treated different....

it is knowing that somebody is charching you more because he is assuming you have more....

also 150$ might be well be important money for many non-chinese people all around the world as well...

we are not all rich that burning our cigars with 100$ bills
I agree with you on the principal that customers in different regions should not be subjected to discriminatory pricing, but I also think its unfair to accuse Hiby of this as if they are the only company doing this. The biggest culprit of discriminatory pricing, and has been getting away with it for years, is in fact a US company: Apple !

Here is a simple case in point:

- If you go to the US Apple store site, the iPhone Xs is selling at USD 999 (without trade in)
- If you go to the UK Apple store site, the iPhone Xs is selling at GBP 999 (without trade in).

Now, at the current exchange rate, GBP 999 is equivalent to USD 1318. So Apple is charging consumers in the UK 31% more (USD 318) than US consumers, for exactly the same device!

They have been doing this for 12 years, since the days of the iPhone 1

Yes UK consumers haven't complained. I guess we all just accept this as a fact of life.
Yeah, this a very big & shameful issue in the UK and the only way round it is to not purchase directly from Apple, but to shop around Europe to find an acceptable deal. I'm pretty well much dependant on Apple for computer, phone, ATV, Video since the mid '90's and have always managed to get a deal. Refurbished is a good method if you're financially strained. Not sure if this will continue after Brexit though.

Has anyone else had issues with using PowerAmp Media Player on their HiBy R6 Pro using Direct Audio option? When I turn it on, the audio massively distorts.. Without it, the player sounds nowhere near as good as HiBy Music. I'd like to use a different audio player for daily driver since HiByMusic doesn't sort properly.
Do you mean the Direct Volume Control or the Hi-Res output (both options within Poweramp)?

Anybody knows where are the USB DAC settings? No matter what I play it says 44.1Khz. And there are no R6Pro drivers on Hiby's website. I guess it works with Win10 default drivers.

They're in windows sound settings. That or you need to use WASAPI output (better).

Found them. Thanks! One more question: do I need to do anything to enable 'bit perfect output'?
WASAPI output inside the music player app is what you're looking for--unless you're playing DSD, in which case things get complicated fast.
