Hiby R6 Pro - serious upgrade to popular DAP

What do you mean OTG? One of the reasons I sold the M11 is because it doesn’t support OTG, but not only does the R6 Pro support it, it even powers a full 3TB 2.5” drive and lets me use it directly. Wuite amazing for a portable device! That means I no longer have to rely on the second SD slot and can bring my full library on a trip or just a selection of small and portable high-capacity flash drives.

Well I stand corrected! .... I honestly didn't think it did support otg and was partly the reason I gave it up although the andro s was the other factor, the m11 did have 2 slots which for me was easier to support my amount of storage, 2 x 400 GB.

Well he said they have different timbre, which is different from saying they are superior
Thank you, Joe. That is correct.

Saying one thing and inferring another :p
I inferred nothing of the sort. Please re-read: "All 3 of those DAPs have different takes on timbre and what you prefer will be up to your ears and how they match with your headphones."

There is no need to infer, I mean exactly what I said. If your preference is (for example) DX220 with your headphones, then no, the timbre settings on the R6 Pro will not give you that same sound. What the timbre setting does is subtly alter tonality. I find it quite enjoyable to be able to do so and hope Hiby keeps this feature on the R8.

I stand corrected, and fully agree with you about the tonality settings. I use 'warm' myself.

Thank you. One super benefit is that they apply globally, not just inside a music player app!

Still hoping @Joe Bloggs can tell us how they work, from a technical perspective :)

For

For me, is coming to the price vs quality. Although companies in USA don't make a product line as this ( or at least can't find) companies like sfbags are better Craftsmanship from the ones I compared with which also includes cost performance / quality. This is my opinion of course. If they were cheaper I would consider but not the price they are selling it for the quality they are selling

Sorry for so many bad grammars but the damn auto on phones...
Thanks. I'll still place them at the top of my "to-buy" list, since available options are scarce. There's one from Miter... and there's one from Hiby themselves. The Miter case is thin, and doesn't exude a sense of quality. The same can be said for Hiby's stock leather case. If I do get them, I'll let you know. :)

I just upgraded from an M11 to an R6 Pro. No issues and no complaints. Prefer the form factor, and the stainless steel build quality is premium. The RF noise issues are real, but only If you leave your phone on top of the player. Google Play out the box and easy UAPP integration (including native DSD playback) would be two advantages I'd flag over the DX160. At this level you can't really go wrong with either player - both offering sound and features that simply weren't available for less than $1000 a year ago.

@Joe Bloggs what are the chances of putting in a firmware feature request for double-tap to wake the R6 Pro?
I don't think it's possible on a device that doesn't support it to start with without great standy battery drain, but I can ask.

Would greatly appreciate that, thanks. And any update on the request for hardware MQA support on the R6 Pro? Those two features alone would make the R6 Pro unbeatable value in this market.

Hello all,

I am not sure if this was already posted, but R6 Pro seems to be having "updated" versions (R6ProAL) available in 11/15.
https://e-earphone.blog/?p=1332179

The blog says it's 80g lighter having a new aluminum body.
It also mentioned having upgraded wiring pattern.

Hi havenglory,

Yes, but the point about new circuits ("wiring pattern") is comparing with the original R6, not old R6pro's.

:)

Joe

I'm not promising a fix if you do do this, but it would be a start for us to possibly have the information at hand to fix it if one of you can provide a matlog of what's happening to the system:

1. Install Matlog on the R6pro from google play.
2. Follow this guide to set up ADB on your computer and the R6: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
3. On the computer, run the following shell command to allow Matlog to read logs from the R6:
adb shell pm grant com.pluscubed.matlog android.permission.READ_LOGS
4. Using the app, save logs of the system from just after you first try to play something using Qobuz, and another log from just after it finally manages to start playing.

Good luck and if you do try this, let me know if you have any problems along the way.

I have a Mac the procedure above seems for Windows?

Why can't Hiby engineers purchase a subscription to Qobuz to test fully?
