Well then, you need to check if BOTH Neutron and HiBy are skipping through the tracks (trying to play stuff) when this happens...

You might be triggering play in such a way that both start trying to play at the same time?
Yes, it's happening on both apps. After removing Neutron, the files play fine on the Hiby app. Neutron is obviously affecting Hiby and vice versa. I'd, ideally, like the flexibility of using both apps - any obvious solution?

My R6III arrived last week. Generally I'm happy with it, however, every time I power it up, it's lost time.
It shows as 04:00am Jan 2023. If it is on set time automatically it eventually corrects, but this is no good in the car as there is no internet connection.
Without the time correct Amazon Music refuses to play. So, I have to manually set the time when I power it on.
Anyone experiencing this or have a solution?
Just noticed this too but no solution to report.

How were you triggering play on one app, such that the other app also started playing? Did you try different methods such as only tapping the play button on the screen on one of the apps?

I think it is possible for multiple App to trap the same Android Audio Event when earphone is plug or unplug, or certain buttom function, highlighted by @Electrocrytic . I guess it is up to the OS to maintain state, and also the possible status of DAC device when multiple App accessing the same device. Hence @Imbrie mentioned it seems to work for him on RS6 but not R6iii at the moment. I tend to expect things to be a bit buggy at first since this is probably Hiby 1st implementation of Android 12, and probably some fair bit of changes from RS6 Android 9 to R6iii Android 12.

yes but you'd expect there to be instances / operations that could only possibly trigger play on one of the two apps. I wonder if it's still bugged then, in which case the issue would be something different.

After performing a music scan on Neutron and the Hiby app, I'm closing each app and then using the screen/app buttons to select a track and play it and the silent stuttering begins immediately. If I close the app and re-open it, it sometimes will play songs with sound normally without any stuttering but not always. When silent stuttering is persistent, I need to restart the R6III - Neutron always silent stutters upon restart but closing the app and reopening seems to correct it but if I then open the Hiby app, the problem reoccurs.

So, for now, I have removed Neutron from the device.

If Neutron is anything like UAPP and uses its own driver, it could be taking over the DAC in exclusive mode. UAPP has a setting that 'releases' the driver every time you switch out of the app. I suspect that's what happening here. See if there's a similar setting in Neutron. If not, you should still be able to close Neutron and then switch over to HiBy.

I'm about to get a R6 Gen 3 and currently have a R3 Pro 2022. One use case I have would be connecting them to my desktop DAC (SMSL C200) via SPDIF to use external speakers connected to it.

I saw Hiby sells a tiny USBC-male 3.5mm cable that is "coaxial" but this is not only awkward since it's short and would need the pinout for that 3.5 -> RCA.

Do anyone know any cable that can be bought to connect the Hiby to a standard SPDIF port (RCA)?

Thanks!

What made me love head-fi less was because there is less talk about sound. They discuss anything: screen, performance, firmware, build quality, cases, etc., but not the sound quality. It's like I'm on a smartphone fan forum.

So, I'll try to remind everyone what we're all here for: how good does R6 III sound? Which IEMs have good synergy? How good is the R6 III compared to the competition? Thanks.

I'd personally wait for the new R6 Pro which we should hear more about this month if you have extra budget. But if you do want to go for the R6 G3, you could get something like the Fiscal Havana 3.5mm to coaxial;

The R6G3 would be at the top of my budget already... also I don't think I'd need more features than it already have.

Getting a cable like this, I'd plug it to the PO or LO ports? Do they output digital audio? I understand it uses some pins from the USB-C connector and I'd need that cable Hiby sells, right?

Fair enough. 👍 Yeah you only need any cable with similar connectors (3.5mm one side and coaxial the other). The 3.5mm would go in the Line Out (3.5mm) on the Hiby Player (the line out supports coaxial - so no other cabling needed, it's plug and play). The other end would go into the input Coaxial for the SMSL. That's it done, you can use the output on the SMSL to your speakers and magic. You only want a single ended coaxial though, as the SMSL only has one coaxial input which is not balanced (this would need two coaxial inputs).

The Hiby cable is built for usb-c input devices (so don't need that in this case - or if you already have one you can get additional adapters). But a rule of thumb is to minimise the number of "extra" components that can hamper the signal. So you ideally don't want to stack adapters on each other.
