Am i right in thinking the R6 should go to sleep if left alone and the blue LED on the power button should go out? If so how long before it should happen. I've left mine for 3 hours and the blue LED didn't go out.

Correct, the LED should turn off once the unit goes into sleep mode. Prior to 1.2 mine would go into sleep mode immediately after hitting the power button or after hitting the time I set in the sleep function. The LED staying on means something is running in the background.

Thanks. Mine is definitely not entering sleep mode at all. The Android auto shutdown setting works though so i'll use that for now

Daduy, Mine did that on my first attempt to upgrade Android to Oreo. I right clicked on the Qualcomm driver in device manager and uninstalled it. I then unplugged the R6 and plugged it back in and allowed Windows 10 find the driver itself and the flash worked.

Thanks mate, i never installed the driver from hiby, just used windows one, and never had problem installing the oreo update.

Hello! I've been using my R6 for a couple of months now, I've had the battery drain since the last update. Yesterday after using it I left it in sleep mode all night and today that I went and tried using it it didn't wake up. So now I'm trying to charge it but it doesn't turn on. Not even the red LED.

Nevermind... just left it charging a lot of time more than usually (before it turns on automatically) and after trying to turn it on by pressing the power button for a couple of seconds, it booted up just fine. Curiously enough with 85% of the battery left.

Hi Joe,

Right, so i make sure i got the right COM ports

Fire up the flasher, put the appropriate folder

and hit start, then i got this red status thingy

tried to compare the content of the MM and Oreo update and can see some major differences

MM:

Oreo:

Which is why the question: is the MM image the right one? or maybe i am doing something wrong, let me know :)

Thanks and regards
Sorry about the mixup! I don't know why this has been wrong for so long and yet nobody has reported issues before. :ok_woman:

This is the correct image file for marshmallow:

To all users experiencing unusual battery drain on standby:
Our initial diagnosis:
Please go to Play Store and check for updates to Google Play Store and Google Play Services.

This is especially important for those of you who turned off auto-update to stay on TIDAL 2.11.3

I updated all software last week and still get the issue. I don't use TIDAL. I do usually keep WIFI off as I don't need it for normal operation.

EDIT that said my Google account in the main settings app under Google Services says it cannot connect to the Internet. I have verified that I am connected by browsing a website onthe Via browser. Browing the Play Store seem to be normal and Play Store on my Mac doesn't not show any pending updates.

EDIT2: Oh actually in Google Play looking at my apps & games it says Authentication is required. You need to sign into your Google Account

I'd stopped Google Play Services from running in the background so had to allow it again and reboot to get the Play Store to authenticate. Once it was up and running i checked for updates and it says there aren't any. I'm up to date apparently.

The initial diagnosis seems to be off the mark...

We will need to try to replicate the issue and pin down the error.

Would everyone with the battery drain issue please report the user-installed apps you have on the device.

Those who are more technically savvy can follow @Meanstreak242 's footsteps and try to provide system logs.

1. Install Matlog on the R6 from google play.
2. Follow this guide to set up ADB on your computer and the R6: https://www.xda-developers.com/install-adb-windows-macos-linux/
3. On the computer, run the following shell command to allow Matlog to read logs from the R6:
adb shell pm grant com.pluscubed.matlog android.permission.READ_LOGS

Also, you can try granting more (all) permissions to Google play services and Google Play store. The firmware by default grants few permissions to Google, and this can cause crashes.

For example, I was receiving an error loop similar to that shown by @Meanstreak242 on my R6's matlog and was able to stop it by granting Location access to Google Play services.

I updated to the latest firmware and it's not running hot but (apart from the first boot) it's not going to sleep and the blue light is staying on.
Apps installed:
  • Accubattery (only installed this to diagnose this issue though) - happy to remove
  • Audible
  • Caffeinate (not turned on) - used for diagnostics - happy to remove
  • Dropbox
  • Bowers and Wilkins Headphone (for managing my B&W Px headphones)
  • HiByMusic - happy to remove HA HA
  • iSyncr
  • Rocket Player (always running) - this is the main app
  • True SD Capacity (another diag tool) - happy to remove
I'm on a Mac so don't think I can do Matlog probably

I don't understand where to assign those extra permission.

Actually Macs are supported by ADB if you want to try, the link above explains how.

The permissions can be granted by going to System Settings (the Settings app in the main drawer, not in HiByMusic)->tap Apps & notifications->tap See all xx apps (if required)->(Scroll down)->tap Google Play Services->tap Permissions->turn on the toggles (Location and Telephone seem to be the two main ones that might give trouble not turned on but you may just turn them all on if you want)

edit: You can do the same for Google Play Store which is also in the Apps & notifications list.
