HIBY R6 - DAP Dual DAC Balanced Out - Great Reviews and Over 500% Funded @ Indiegogo!

In my opinion you can not compare release circle of a mobile phone and a DAP. One of typical USPs of the DAP is a significantly longer relevance on the market. I would not personally plan to change DAP as often as I change phones. And this all boils down to subjective value definition of the current product. I am fine to buy R6 knowing that R6 Pro will be released, but not at an original price point.

I’m out on KS, too. Can’t believe there will be a PRO model of the R6 already. I’m certainly done with supporting devices like this for months, only to have them upgraded a few months after the orders have been delivered. At least Sony gives you about 1.5 years to appreciate a new release. A 9 month upgrade cycle is a bit of an insult, tbh. Just one man’s opinion.
Don't be sad. You got the early bird deal from KS, and R6 Pro is a different kind products. You need 4.4 mm Balanced Plug earphones to play with it, While R6 you can simply find earphones having 2.5 mm plug version more easier. and Normally a 4.4 mm balanced plug is more higher price than 2.5 mm balanced plug.

I think the name 'pro' is probably causing the issue here. I see it as just an alternate R6 option in the same way as fiio x7 and ibasso dx150/200 have the interchangeable opamps with 2.5mm or 4.4mm balanced outputs etc. It probably doesnt sound better, just different depending on taste.

Joe, could you confirm - looks like Hiby R6 Pro has same casing overall dimensions as original Hiby R6 and any protective case for R6 will fit R6 Pro?
I think not--there is a difference in shape where the 4.4 jack is. The whole unit may be thicker too.

Wow just catching up on this news of a Pro when I just got my R6. I wasn't a kickstarter adopter but I am really happy with my purchase and I enjoy the device a lot.

I came here to ask in the Hiby Player is there a way to set the Album view under the Artist to be default rather than All Tracks?

So that’s I’ve gathered so far the Pro gets:

  • A second SD slot
  • Additional 4.4 balanced output (or does it supplant the 2.5mm?)
  • Lower output impedance
  • A few capacitors to reduce floor noise or whatever
  • Better amplification.

I truly question HiBy business acumen. The Pro is a minor upgrade: Only the lower impedance should make a meaningful difference to some people. To be worthy of the title ‘Pro’ a better chip set, more built-in storage and additional output ports (optical) are warranted. In fact, this particular newcomer should've replaced the R6, no more no less, as it’s difficult to find a position for it:

· If the Pro is significantly more expensive than the R6, it wouldn’t enjoy much success. The only strong argument it is the lower impedance IMO.

· Conversely, if the Pro is close in price to the R6, it’ll cannibalize the latter’s sales. Who wouldn’t pay a bit more for more features?

Thus, I predict that one of the either is destined to fall out of favor. THE definition of poor mark position.
