Fedex will usually hit your door with a notice for payable tax after 7-10 days of the receipt of the item. To my experience, there's no chance there won't be any tax incurred with this specific company.

I was hoping they would use a different carrier after many of us ponted out tthe issue but was proven wrong...

Joe told me (FB message) that they would word the customs slip carefully, so as not to incur any duties, after all we didn't buy the item, it's a crowdfunding perk, free of charge.

Fingers crossed this will work but to my experience both Fedex and DHL are the worst when it comes to this. I was even asked once to pay duties (over 20$) for an under 25$ item and when I complained, they cancelled the charge... Go figure.
