HiBy R6 2020 User Impressions

I received an email reply from Hiby and apparently I was duped.

That sounds like Hiby marketing putting the horses in front of the carriage again. Seeling a feature before it's implemented and functional. (Had that issue with the original R3 selling with Tidal offline until they found out they couldn't deliver it.)
Well, technically neither the ad copy nor the reply from the HiBy email is correct. DLNA and AirPlay are available on any Android device, not because of any work we did but by means of Play Store apps like this:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.waxrain.airplayer2

(tested personally for casting to Android using AirPlay)

I will have a chat with the team about this part of the ad copy.

And hello everybody! :D

Thanks guys. But yes, in this case a ^ or * must be added to inform that a third party app is needed.

Thank you @Joe Bloggs. I did receive a second email from Hiby customer service advising me of the need for a third-party app also. I’m new to android and misunderstood the native capability of the new R6 (and what any of the differences with iOS might be). The marketing ad copy is misleading for someone who doesn’t already have experience with the android OS.

On another note, kudos to you on the MSEB feature within this player as it works well and is a great differentiator between Hiby players and other DAPs on the market. Well done.

Unlike some other players, I'm finding that I can get some great results by voicing cables and settings etc. The unit itself is very informative and changes a lot with these adjustments. Tells me that it's likely detailed and neutral/balanced (whatever you want to call it) overall. I suspect not getting a good result will be user error or different than perceived expectations from combinations due to what came before. Things that should be easily corrected with the afore mentioned. It is informative enough to tell you if you have an issue elsewhere. The premier players may have a bit more solidity or foundation and be able to drive more severe loads but so for, this unit feels very cost effective and it's dimensions make it extremely viable as a do all device.

med for me as well. Seems best for my IEMs.Low would work but prefer the slight sig difference of med. I've not yet heard a dap that didn't change slightly with gain setting.

Is that still single ended usage ?
My cables will not come quite yet.
Mostly on 47 - 51 on high gain.

My R6 2020 arrived yesterday. I finally set it up today. It is a very nice form factor and is very responsive. Google Play works great. I downloaded Tidal and it works just like on my iPhone. Downloading music now.

I also received my ZMF Verite Closed yesterday as well. Someone asked me if they pair well. I am listening right now. I think the biggest problem is that even on high gain, there is very little head room with this DAP to fully drive the VC. And, I am connected 4.4 balanced. At lower volumes it sounds great. I am listening right now at 50-60 and it's moderate volume. After I do my testing, I'll probably listen at 40. Clean sound. Sounds more neutral to me than my BHC which is what I was pairing them with immediately prior to hooking it up. I prefer the BHC pairing as being much warmer sounding to my preference. I haven't tested MSEB or EQ. I will do that later. Just out of the box, it can work, but I probably would not recommend this pairing if you listen to loud music due to the lack of head room. If you mostly listen at moderate or low volume levels, then it will be fine.

I'll test out my IEMs later today when I have time. Then, the R6 2020 as transport with the Hugo 2.

I am not using iem’s but I prefer low..I do enjoy a little of the extra low end that middle gives me but I find it adds a little too much drive that effects the treble and can make them have a not as natural sound. Especially with guitar driven music
