I've had my new R6 2020 for all of 4 days now. Super pleased with the sound quality and all of the features as I'm still learning how to use everything. This is my first DAP, and first android based OS anything having stayed with Apple iOS products for 10 years+.

What drew me to the new R6 was the experience I've had with the R3Pro Saber. An amazing little player that also has a ton of features (like the R6) and great sound quality. For all it can do it is truly an excellent value.

One of the features unique to the HiBy players is their proprietary UAT bluetooth codec. I haven't seen much discussion anywhere about UAT. Now I know bluetooth and sound quality don't really go together, but there are use cases where it is convenient and perhaps the best or only option.

Example: A friend held an "open house" party over the weekend at his new rental property that was just completed. There was no WiFi (or furniture for that matter ) so a powered bluetooth speaker was the only real choice for music. One option would have been to just stream from a mobile phone to a mono bluetooth speaker and call it good... Or, break out your new R6 filled with downloaded tunes from Tidal (or Qobuz, or ripped CD collection, etc.) and use it's bluetooth transmitter feature to send a UAT signal to your R3Pro set up to send a line out signal to the aux input of your DiamondBoxx powered boombox. Now that's what an audiophile might do... Alternatively, I could have streamed music from my iPhone (as a personal hotspot) to either the R6 or R3Pro via AirPlay, and it may have been just slightly better. But hey when you're drinking a few beers with friends at a house party no one really cares :beerchug:.

The point is, the ability to use the bluetooth transmitter and receiver feature with the UAT bluetooth codec between HiBy players is really cool, and sounds really, really good.

Regarding AirPlay, that is the one feature setting on the new R6 I haven't been able to find yet. Can anyone tell me how to turn AirPlay on so my other iOS devices can see the R6?

Could be that airplay is not bi directional and it only becomes a play device when sent a stream by another in the network

Yes, I believe that’s right as that’s how my R3Pro Saber works.

With the R3Pro there is a digital toggle switch to turn AirPlay on/off. I just can’t find anything like that within any of the R6 settings.

AirPlay might be a feature within the HiBy music app. I don't have the device in front of me, so I can't check right now.

I hadn't messed around with the Hiby music app yet, as I don't use it to play music. Couldn't find anything in it just now related to AirPlay...

I will send an email to Hiby customer service to inquire. If anyone knows how it works please share!

Just tried from my iphone. Doesn't see R6 as an option. Not a concern to me but thought I'd check for you guys.

I received an email reply from Hiby and apparently I was duped.

That sounds like Hiby marketing putting the horses in front of the carriage again. Seeling a feature before it's implemented and functional. (Had that issue with the original R3 selling with Tidal offline until they found out they couldn't deliver it.)
