Hi, where did you get this adapter from? It may not be compatible with the r3. We sell an official adapter but its oytput is in the shape of 3.5mm, you need to add a 3.5 to RCA adapter to the end of it.

So, is there any more information about this doing Tidal offline :)?
This is a Tidal API limitation not a player / technical limitation. It's entirely down to Tidal to make offline for non-android possible.

But it's possible on the R3?! Says so in this article: https://gearpatrol.com/2018/03/30/hiby-r3-hifi-player-tidal/

Looking at the R3 thread on here there's plenty of people saying they wish it had it ....
I really don't think it does
Any DAP using Android can (assuming it allows whitelisted or play store apps)
You can also offline from Tidal on a phone and use the R3 (pro) to LDAC the music to the amp so you're using the R3Pro to power headphones .... or use a USB cable from phone > dap and get MQA that way

Yeah, you're right!

USB from my phone does not work. Tried that with my E17. Is LDAC as good as wired on the R3? Or on anything?

Ldac is pretty decent on quality mode
Certainly good enough most of the time on the go

We are talking about 2 year old brief post from non-audiophile site (mostly covering cars and bikes) where they "informed" about KS project by quoting promotional info from somewhere  This is not a review and it's not based on someone's first hand experience. R3 wasn't even released at the time of that post. Not a single review or any of the user impressions ever mentioned R3/R3Pro being used for off-line Tidal/Qobuz listening.

Only the full android app will allow off-line listening. The built-in used in Hiby and Shanling DAPs will only allow streaming, just like in older A&K DAPs. And even the latest A&K DAPs still feature a built-in app for streaming only and give you access to side-load official android app to save for off-line listening.

We'd given out incorrect PR info on this back before the launch of this device (since we did not envision any barrier to the ability) before further communication with TIDAL revealed that it was contractually impossible. After that, we had trouble getting all the major news outlets to issue corrections to their articles, never mind the small ones copying the big ones.

I've ordered another one of these. Basically just for the higher quality sound in a small package and the battery life.

Battery life on my ap80 is starting to wain, and the r3pro has a bigger sound stage which I like. Well see if I still have bt issues with the new firmware, but damn it's nice not to have to charge a device a lot.

The phone I don't mind as much with the wireless charging but a dap can be a bit of a pain if you're using it as your everyday dap.

If you don't mind me asking what Shop did you buy them from?

Well just got my second one today and updated it to 1.2 ota with no problems. The good news is the bluetooth is much better with my Sony ex 750 bt buds.

Before I couldn't even keep the signal (with ldac) from breaking it up while it was 2 feet away from me. Now I can go about 20 to 30 feet and still get signal.

Not quite as good as my phone but much better, and on par with most daps- or better in ibassos case. I haven't tried any other codec but ldac is all I use really.

Now I can wholeheartedly recommend this little gem. It's not perfect but it's the best micro dap by a mile. Great sound and great battery life in a minuscule package.

Question for the experts. Is it possible to output a digital signal to an outboard DAC via the USB-C port? I had assumed it was possible and bought a USB-C to USB-B plug to plug into my Schiit Bifrost but haven't been able to get any sound. Am I missing something in settings for is this not possible?
