Quick questions

I'm planning on using this device to be run with my cord Hugo as a transport, so it can be used with more power hungry headphones.

Would the pairing be ok between m300 and cord hugo? Via USB ?

I will mainly used this device with tidal online and Offline listening

Maybe some micro SD card from time to time. But mainly Tidal in Hotels etc?

I also used wavelet app would this be a problem?

I would say the answer is yes it outputs USB audio and yes you can use wavelet

Hello.
How do you compare quality sound of m300 vs usual snapdragon phone? Can m300 give a sound like other basic daps (fiio ka1 for example) or it's actually the same as usual smartphone sound?
Nice that you asked that. :)

I just heard M300 the other day and with Joe’s filters applied to it it sounded amazing. It actually got me looking for prices of it after I tried it. For sure it sounds better that a phone and better that some low end DAPs.

And just paraphrasing what I just posted on the Watercooler thread… HERE

Notable mentions

Had some great chat with Joe and how he likes to design some Darwin filters and tuning, this guy knows a lot. Tried his RS6 with Darwin Ultra filter and that got me back to when I had my RS6 and how his tuning sounds amazing and much better than what I can remember from the stock RS6, it got my toes kicking for sure. But more impressed I got with the little M300 with Joe’s tuning in it, it got me looking for the prices of it after our meetup. Only downside is 3.5mm outlet. Nice size and great for an streamer for the Mojo2.

I was waiting for someone to ask about this :D https://www.head-fi.org/threads/hib...player-discussion-thread.970428/post-17879614

I had installed RootlessJamesDSP^ onto mine and am using a Liveprog# script I wrote for it. Also custom tuning files for the Xoe earphones and optional room simulation BRIR*.

^https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=me.timschneeberger.rootlessjamesdsp&hl=en&gl=US . Follow its instructions on installation via Shizuku and for enabling processing on Spotify etc. via Vanced.
#Download here: https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/s567...r-ps.eel?rlkey=74kykiza7rhrkyoqaqqx1oscg&dl=0
and import into RootlessJamesDSP via the Liveprog section. It is the equivalent of the DRX10K dynamics expander mentioned here https://www.head-fi.org/threads/introducing-the-all-new-hiby-drx10k.968627/ with the addition of a spectral limiter which I have firstly configured to soften high frequencies, sibilance etc. on demand by adjusting the limit bias to the left. Per this description https://www.head-fi.org/threads/proof-of-evolution—darwin-filters-v2-for-hiby-rs6-rs8-rs2-fc6.969083/page-5#post-17879732 . And yes @gnohp you will need to adjust the buffer size in RootlessJamesDSP->Settings->Processing options down from the default 8192 to e.g. 2048 or 1024.

Strange thing happened to my M300 with RootlessJamesDsp

Music become stutering hard on Hiby music and UAPP :frowning2:
I installed JamesDSP through play store and download shizuku, enter wireless debugging and import your script through Live Prog, if I disable JamesDSP, everything will be back to normal

I found a solution, go to setting, audio processing, change buffer size to lower until you see it gone :D

Question: is there a bluetooth receiver mode on the M300 (bluetooth audio input)?

I didn't find such a function in M300. But this function is available in R5 II and R6 III.

Are there plans for a future update for the M300 that will add a bluetooth receiver mode (bluetooth audio input)?

On my 5th Hiby M300 and I think I came across another firmware bug if someone can verify. I have Tidal and Spotify installed, no issue with Tidal but every time I reboot the Spotify defaults back to the unit for storage and not the installed card, than tries to download another 44gb onto the unit when the files already that were downloaded to the card, that now disappear from Spotify but Tidal as I say no issue.

I understand that HiBy Digital is not targeting the “high-end seasoned audiophiles” [sic] —that remains HiBy Music. But the M300 is a very fine and interesting device for audio enthusiasts: an inexpensive powerful, open, Android-based digital source. RootlessJamesDSP is a fantastic example of what an audio enthusiast can explore with the M300.

@Joe Bloggs Since HiBy controls the Android implementation on the M300, can HiBy fork or develop a Shizuku-like app that would enable system-wide audio processing for HiBy Music (EQ, MSEB…) or RootlessJamesDSP, or any other audio app, without having to enable the USB and Wireless debugging in the developer options? Yes, Shizuku works fine… but it also looks like a hack to me (a workaround)!
This optional (download) “Shizuku-HiBy” app could become the bridge between HiBy Digital and HiBy Music.

It’s Christmas: right time for wishful thinking!

It does seem to be a problem with Spotify when there is an ongoing thread about it from multiple users across multiple devices for two years.

Regardless I'm sorry about this.

The most recent suggestion given was to format the card within the player.

Also note that software issues are unlikely to be solved by exchanging the player. I would suggest to consider whether you can live with the issues in Android you encounter which may or may not be caused on our end, then keep the player for good or return the player for good.

Well, this is the “Album Artists” view…. What would you propose if the Album Artist tag is missing that is not the “Artist” view?
It should default to using the Artist field if Album Artist tag is missing.
I can't use Artists tab because many albums have different artists and it's annoying scrolling around.
