HF-2 errors making anyone shy away?

Best guess now is that all of the 44 that were shipped this past week have the lettering "GRADO HEAD-F1 HEADPHONES HF-2". Look on the HF-2: It's for real thread to find pics. So F1, instead of FI. Everyone who has chimed in from this weeks batch has that issue, and no one has reported a correct version that I am aware of.

In addition to this oversight, some other QC issues appear to have cropped up with the can, all so far on a cosmetic level (glue spillage, etc.). Only one person has posted about anything major, that being Strid3r, whose headphones are by far the worst, with serious smudges/etching issues/rough spots in the finish.

charliex, I share your concern to some extent... I guess I'm more scared of it than anything, because I really don't see Grado cutting out those who have already ordered a pair. Unless that happens, there's no reason to speculate on the consequences. Let's not be paranoid until we have to be paranoid.

Beside the typo, mine is in good condition. Only thing, I concerned is the cable between the cups and Y splitter is a little in the odd shape.

I agree RTN08. In a couple of months this will all be over. PPL will be listening to a satisfying product from a very reputable manufacturer/dealer. I just wish this mishap was discovered on a Monday, so Joe and Todd could've dispelled all the dross that is coming up about QC.

Grado and TTVJ are not only some of the best companies I've dealt with in the past, but real people that care about customer satisfaction. Give them a call sometime and find out for yourself if you don't believe me.

The runaway maligning I've read in these recent threads is not only baffling, but a sad commentary on a knee-jerk response from the Head-Fi community.

This website has been the premier haven for lovers of music and sound from a unique perspective. Over the years Head-Fi has not only brought that perspective to the masses, but generated a thriving industry that not only needs customers, but lives and dies by our satisfaction.

For people to assume that our sponsors, ESPECIALLY our premier sponsors Grado and TTVJ would forget that for one minute is completely ridiculous. I can only hope that in the future when redress is delayed on a mishap like this, the good people of Head-Fi wait before polishing pitchforks. More specifically, practice a little QC ourselves before posting.

Sorry if anyone takes this the wrong way, but I just expected better from some people here. Speculation has a way of not only gaining momentum but in this case, the added detriment to someone else's lively hood is grossly undeserved and well beneath what Head-Fi as a community represents.

Like others I agree that not having someone giving these things a 2 second eyeball before they go in the box is waaaaayy unacceptable for an expensive limited edition headphone that they know is being sold to the likes of us headfi members.

oth, I sent a pair of PS-1 that had been owned by an unknown number of people to Grado for a slight static that I was hearing from the left side. Grado fixed and returned them to me for $0.00. I have no doubt they will give this issue the due care and attention that it deserves. I also know that based on what I know of Todd that he will be working equally hard to set things right. Unfortunately this is already leaving s bad after taste and will likely cause additional production delays.

Well, this could turn out to be a blessing in disguise; these incidents give the people who are saving their pennies for a HF-2 more time to collect the needed funds.

To be honest, I wouldn't mind having an F1 pair. It is a cosmetic defect, but it's not like a scratch or hole or something. It still looks nice and it looks like it fits, even if that's not what it's supposed to be. I would prefer an F1 because that just makes it even more limited.

To each their own, I guess. If I bought a new nice big TV (say $5000) and it said Toshibo instead of Toshiba or something, I would think it's kind of cool, it's one of a kind. If it was completely wrong, for example tpfygla then that may be a problem.

Not that I could afford that $5k TV or even the HF2s. :P

I was about to say this as well, and I'm one of those people that don't mind that error. It's all about the sound right?

I'm keeping my order. But whoever is in charge of QC at Grado needs a good spanking...what an embarrasing fiasco for the company.

I want a pair of Head-F1. Especially if only a handful of them are made. I'll gladly trade those who has a F1 if I receive a FI one. Head-F1ers please message me for a trade!

Regardless whether is F1 or FI, it is still a very special 'phone. The F1 just makes it even more special.

It is not just the HF-2 but they PS 1000 too. Mine came in with scuffing, chips, scratches, and a sticky substance all around the edges, like there was some sort of adhesive around them or something. They collet dust and other elements rather easily. I was not happy to pay that kind of money and have them come in like that. At least it sounds like they will rectify it as soon as they can. The thing is, that will be awhile since they don't just have any extra hanging around that they could just send out.

Hey look, it's a product I'm buying folks and I'm never going to apologize for wanting what I pay for, okay. I understand that TTVJ and JG are going to correct the problems or accept the returns- No question there. It's the holier than thou attitude from some head-fi members that believe they are the almighty himself and they question how a consumer could possibly expect a quality product from something that is handmade. Or they make statements to the affect that one problem is bad and another is not as long as the sound is good? I gotta say folks, the bar needs to be raised a little bit higher when it comes to this. Another way of looking at this is that I'm sure that JG wants the customer to be completely happy with the purchase of their headphone. I think the ultimate insult to JG is when people make comments about the substandard products that some have come to expect from Grado Labs. I don't believe this, Grado products set the bar high in terms of quality and it's my belief that some people refuse to send back flawed products that need to be returned and then these same people grow bitter and spew hatred among forums such as head-fi.

I'll look forward to my HF-2s as I have to my GS1000s, RS-1s, and sr60s and if perhaps there is something not to my liking, I will return them but I doubt I'll have to because I know by that time Grado, being the caring headphone co that they are will have corrected the problems and possibly due to the diligence of some of those good people who raised there voices and pointed out the problem so that it may be addressed rather than saying, "hey, I like 'em like this" and you should to.

I've noticed that a lot of people are just sheep, though...they just go along and if 5 people say it's good then they get a bit self conscious if they complain, you know.

As another member stated in a month or two this will all blow over.

Looking forward to the HF-2!

I really doubt TTVJ/Grado will do so.
Cause it will seriously damage their credibility, which in the long run may hurt more than going through with the HF2.

He completely changed the op after my post but before your post. Originally it was a "want to buy SR-60 with bowls" post.
