HEDD Audio HEDDphone TWO - Now Available for Pre-Order with Special Pre-Order Bonus

It seems these headphones are getting a pretty bad rap. No one is really excited about them even though they seem to have very good transparency and detail.

I'm not sure how to evaluate the posts I have read........ and come to any conclusions...

THe thing is I LOVED the Hedd 1- and the 2 is supposedly not that different-- so I'm confused...
My take:
It's not as flashy looking as others (people don't like the design)
It is/was not widely available, even here in Austria it took a while to get hold of it
Reviewers didn't hype it up
Not a household name in the headphone world (yet)
First model was slightly controversial
People on the fence about AMT still, if it ain't broken...
Target group is studio - head-fi, while having some studio traction (see Neumann NDH30), consists mostly of audiophile users
Price

I've already decided that I'll buy them eventually, it's just a matter of putting the funds together, but in the end, if you want a sales pitch, well, they're one of the few headphones I wouldn't mind buying new (and that's despite me hearing it on my Mojo 2 only, I can only imagine what it can do on my desktop rig). Without EQ, I would easily take it over Focal Clear, Arya, HEK, LCD-X '21, basically anything that's below ~2k new unless we're talking about underdogs like Aurorus Audio, Kennerton, JM, etc. (haven't heard the E3).

these headphones need a long run-in, 3/400 hours, yes, you read that right, only then can they be evaluated! They need high energy amplifiers, otherwise they are flat, I put mine up for sale only because I'm queuing for an Immamis, I already have the wm1a and in the meantime while I'm waiting I'm trying to raise funds by selling a few things.

it's still about the heddphone 2 headset, my question is about the headphone cable that comes with it, have some people tried other cables, copper cables,... no silver cables or silver, which would make the restitution more aggressive,...

I'd love to learn more about this as well :)

If it's anything like the HEDD 1, the Eletech Inferno would be magic. And the Purgatorio :)

The official stance from HEDD is that a cable should not change the sound and they’re not selling or recommending any other than the one it comes with.

My background is studio as well, so I’m not too invested in trying different cables for sound purposes.

Surprise - it arrived early!

Too early to do anything but a first impressions, so here are some pictures for size comparison. (LCD-2 because I don't want to take the X out of the box right now, but they're the same size)

For comfort: The box was surprisingly heavy, but it was all due to thick cardboard and 2 individual boxes, one for the cables and second set of pads (just for replacement, the preinstalled one seems to be the same), and one for the headphone in its hardcase with handle. Very nice.

I immediately set it to its biggest size which was a 30 second affair, put it on, and was relieved: It is big enough, has just enough clamp force with this setting to not wiggle off of my head but stay comfy. It's too hot right now to wear it for extended periods, but great first impression.

Sound: damn... this thing can do depth. The soundstage is small-ish, but for synth pads and all kinds of effects that involve panning, it convincingly sounds like they happen in front of each other, some even above others, so height is another dimension this thing plays in.

It doesn't shake your head with rumble, but suprisingly doesn't kill you with treble either - very well balanced, and detailed if you want to pay attention to it. Doesn't hit you in the face with anything, just got me by surprise with the positioning capabilities. Tested on a Ferrum stack, Roon through HQPlayer but also with a mix that a friend sent me through iMessage.

Congratulations, this is very cool to see! If there is anything you might need from me, just holler.
