I lisned to the beats studios today at the apple store and they really sound wayyyyyyy toooo muddy. i would go as far to say that the solo hd's have a better sound quality. i also tried the crossfade lp's but i found that they did no quite have as heavy a bass. does anyone know any headphones with a deeper bass thats actually clear?

take a gander at the Denon DN-HP700 I think they might fit your bill. They have tight controlled bass that is deep and impact-full as compared to say the Denon D1100/A100, very nice mids that are more forward than the D1100/A100 and clean non-sibilant treble. I think they are an unbelievably good buy for their $100 price tag.

The Ultrasone HFI 580 can get there but you'll need a linear phase equalizer like the one in Cowon portable players.

Id like to keep it under 130. I know the crossfade lps are on amazon for that and probly on ebay for less i was thinking about maybe them

Crossfades are terrible. I auditioned them before and comments were made on the bass impact thread. There is no treble resolution to be heard on those cans. The HFI 580s are better. Not even a close contest.

For that price range, that is my only recommendation. Maybe others will know some, but you'd be hard pressed to find the clarity of the HFI 580 and the bass punch. I know the ATH M50 is a warmer headphone, but it can't hit has hard from a good EQ.

ATH 50's . These are basstastic though, and cheaper: Sony XB700's
 
the HiFI's are great as well.
