Hello, i've just subscribed here, i'm getting interested in high end audio, i'm still a noob here so forgive me if i say **** :) also, english is not my first language, so forgive me if i don't use the correct words all the time. First i had those monster beats studio headphones: they look great but that's it, very loud lows, what i liked about it, but the sound quality isn't really GREAT, it's good but not more. it was also irritating that the headphones made some cracking noise because of the plastic, when moving around, the earcups would move a bit and that makes the plastic crack. there are some other negative points but whatever, i sold these then i bought the bose QC 15 headphones, i was thinking, yeah that'll be great headphones, as bose is a good brand: NOT!!!! these headphones are really ****ty! the lows are just HORRIBLE, i can't put my music too hard or the lows will be distorted, also these headphones are not loud enough... i like to listen very loudly to my music. so i decided i will sell these and look for real headphones. i listen a lot of electronical hardcore/tekstyle music but i also listen to rap and even country music. but mainly the harder styles. i was thinking about the beyer dynamics dt 880 or 990 (i think the lows on the 990 are better than on the 880, correct me if i'm wrong) but maybe you guys know something better. my budget would be max 350euro. i was also wondering if i should get a fiio e17 because i like to listen to music very loudly, i think that'd be usefull? i know it also improves sound quality (if the source is of good quality ofcourse)

Hello, thanks for your answers,

i dont want iem's, well at least i first want a great pair of full sized headphones then i'll be looking for iems maybe.

the denon's are just so much over my budget... 599euro/690euro

so that leaves me the ultrasone pro 900 who look really awesome.

Malveaux, i see you have lots of headphones, and you also have the BD 990 and the ultrasone pro 900, how are they compared to each other?

also, someone told me i should wait a few weeks for the V-Moda M-100 to come out.. i actually don't know if that was a good advise because i've seen the review here of the m-80 and it had a poor 6.5/10 score on sound quality.... while the bd 880 have 8.5/10 i believe (or was it 9.25, i dont remember)

out of all those, i have the dt990, for me the bass is definitely enough, i dont know how much of a basshead you are though so i cant judge for you. the sound quality is also good in general but keep in mind its an open headphone so not much noise isolation and it will leak, good luck

i would grab the pro900 and add a pair of jmoneypads when u can find one...
add the daportLX if u are on the laptop...and rock the heavens down into your room. :P

I'm not Malveaux, but I would go for the DT990, rather than the pro 900. I found the Pro 900 excessively harsh and sibilant, even compared to (very) bright DT990. I much prefer the DT880, even if it still sounds kinda dry (treble>mids).

DT880 bass is boosted, but not by very much, unlike the DT990. Both extend far into the bass and treble fairly cleanly. Aside from frequency response, I would hesitate to say one has the technical lead over the over.

IIRC, that was a gaming guide and the headphone's ability to localize sound with or without dolby headphone. Like most on-ears, the m80 is disappointing in this regard.

If your using them on the way to work, guess you need closed headphones.
Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro 80-Ohm (Bassy)

What source(s) are you plugging the headphones into?

Fiio E11 portable headphone amplifier can easily drive 80-Ohm headphones.

Hello lorspeaker, sorry but my english is not perfect, i didn't understand you, why is it so expensive now? i've seen people (by searching on google) buying them for 100$.the hisoundaudio studioV looks more thick than the e11/17, isn't it? it's kind of a problem as i already have a samsung galaxy note, the ******* biggest phone on the market ^^

Hello brisky, thanks for your answer, it's hard for me to make a choice between these two, because you're just saying the opposite of what i've read somewhere else, someone was saying the ultrasone pro 900 sounded more clearly than the dt 990, it makes it even harder to choose because the ultrasone is twice as expensive as the dt990 so that makes me think that'd be because it's better than the ultrasone, don't get me wrong, i take your advice for granted,

Hello purpleangel, thanks for your answer, i am plugging it into my phone, samsung galaxy note, i have .flac files. and ofcourse many mp3's unfortunately >.<

so you're telling me it'd be better for me to go for the e11 instead of the e17?

and why the dt770 and not the dt990?

I did not realise the Samsung Galaxy Note had a USB output, so an E17 would provide better audio over the E11.
I'm assuming you can play audio files out of the USB port?

I think you were saying you were going to use the headphone traveling between work and home?
I like the DT990 better then the DT770, but the DT990 will not block outside noise while traveling.

i was kidding...the jmoneypads should go for betw 50-80bucks on the resale.

err its a matter of taste..or diff ears,  i cant keep the dt990 for a month, sold it in a jiffty..
the Vshaped sound sig just spooked me,
but the pro900 is amazing, superclear and thumpingbass on my setup...doubt i will ever let it go.
the studioV is about two inches long...maybe half an inch thick..smaller than a pack of cigarette.

Hello purpleangel, yes i can play files through the usb port, so the e17 you're saying? hmm yeah i see...  need a closed headphone... so i'll think i'll go with the ultrasone pro 900 instead of the dt770 because the ultrasone is also nice looking compared to beyer dynamics.

Hello lorspeaker, oh ok, but i can't buy them NEW anymore?

hmm this studio v looks interesting, especially that i found an offer where they offer pogo iem's with a lot of bass (worth 89$)

but what about the capacity? i see it has an internal storage of 4gb only, but you can put micro/sd cards in it, but only up to 16gb, is that right? or can you put 32/64 also? this kind of sucks if you can't when you know 4 cd's take already over 3gb...
is it really worth the price difference compared to the much cheaper fiio e17?

e17 is a dac/amp, not a dap.
