Man you guys are lucky. I haven't seen anything besides Beats or cheapo headphones since I've been aware of this thread a long time ago.

What the heck is wrong with people here in Orlando?

Dammit, every single day, I see at least 5 people wearing Beats and I think to myself, "Is this what society really wants us to believe?"

I KNOW right!? There's so many people who strut these around it's getting to the point where people who know nothing about headphones respond with "Oh like Dre. Beats?" when you mention 'good' headphones. It's sort of upsetting.

It's not even like they are terrible in any way, they just don't necessarily deserve to be stereotyped as that 'good' headphone everybody knows.

+1. They really aren't that bad-bit bass heavy though. But honestly, I get mad because they are selling for 10 times more than they are worth.

Central London, travelling on the tube to work every morning.. Beats and iBuds are the most numerous by far. There is an occasional B&W P3 or portable Sennheisers, and recently spotted the Sony MDR-1R once. Still a pitiful lack of good phones on most days.

+20dB of added low frequency bass isn't "bit-bass heavy", it's firmly in portable subwoofer territory.

EDIT:
Saw a pair of cream/white Beyer DT150s on a TV advert for some breakfast cearal or something.

Today at E-Earphone, I saw someone walking around with Momemtums comparing them to other headphones.  Also Sennheiser HD598 with a portable brick.  Like an amp as thick as a VHS tape.

"portable subwoofer territory" bahahah it's so true. It can be so aggravating.

LMAO, true. I try to be polite about them, but they really do cross the line between basshead cans and subwoofers you can tape to the side of your head.
