Open headphones in a library seems to not be a good combo... for your neighbors

I'm currently sporting my HD600's with D6 in a library... not too loudly!

saw some bose qc15's today. i was shocked as those things are worth $300. anyone know how good they are. for $300 i am expecting them to sound as good as the average pair of headphones worth $100.

I demoed them one time at an Apple store one time... The noise canceling actually works really well, but the disadvantage is that it tends to make them pretty sibilant... Especially on classical music, the violins get pretty piercing... But again, if you're looking for NC, they work well for that.

I thought today would be a great day for headphones. You see, I am competing in First Tech Challenge, a robotics competition, and usually there are smart people building robots. I saw 4 pairs of Beats and 6 pairs of skullcandy. >.>

.....Also, isn't $32 kind of a lot for earplugs?

I agree, way too much.

Back on topic.....

got the "head nod" in the library today from some dude wearing Koss Solo's in recognition of my ATH-ES7's. I smiled but I was scoffing on the inside.

And then later I was in the cafeteria and saw this old dude sportin' SkullCandy Rasta's standing in line behind an 18 yo kid wearing BOSE QC15's.
It was like Freaky Friday.

Woah, didn't expect to see another First-er on Head-fi. Do you do FRC too?

Greetings from Team 1482!

Amusing, but I just meant that Bose headphones have their niche... Also, isn't $32 kind of a lot for earplugs?

Assuming you're not being sarcastic, that's $32 for 200 pairs of earplugs, so the price comes out to be $0.16 per pair, which is a helluva lot cheaper than what I normally see at concerts (typically $1 or $2). Though, why you'd buy earplugs at a metal concert, I'll never know...

True, but who the hell needs 200 pairs of earplugs? jk, I'm sure there are plenty of applications for them... but still, out of all the earplugs to choose... might as well get some of these and be done with disposables:

I've seen at least a dozen Bose, mostly on the Chinese and South-west Asian students.  I saw a pair of $300 Beats on this short black guy and just died a little inside.
I actually introduced my M50s to a fellow Infected Mushroom fan who had a case of Bose.  He paid the same for his Bose that I did for my M50s.

the shows I go to (DYI sludge metal scene) they give them out for free. Ever hear sunn O))) live? You're listening to the wrong "metal" if you haven't considered ear plugs at a show. ALso I suppose the venue size (tiny ass bar) has something to do with it.
