what do you guys think about this amp?  after reading the reviews on the page from Amazon it sound like a fantastic amplifier.  how much better will my hd-555 sound with it?  will the E3 or E5 be good enough or should I get this one?  are there better deals or which one do you think will get that extra boost to my entry level headphones?

Check out the Pyle Pro PHA-40

Or the Behringer MA400

Go with either one, I own the Pyle but the Behringer has some good reviews.

I've visited the DXC store a while back. And they were using the headphone amps that you guys have mentioned. They were hooked up to a lot of lower tier amps, mainly to amplify many headphones at once. I don't think it makes the sound that much better, rather it just increases the volume. I would build a mini^3 if i were you. Best bang for the buck!

Before building my very own mini^3 I did a lot of research and was about to build a cmoy kit. From what i've heard, the cmoy is an easier build, but the mini^3 is on another sonic level.

skylabs portable amp review was really helpful. you should really check it out. I built my mini^3 for about only $50.

yea, you can certainly try that one. I haven't heard too much about it. Whenever I see those I always thought it was only to increase volume output. But from the reviews from amazon, it sounds very promising, though I've never heard anything about it on head-fi. The mini^3 is highly regarded when i was researching for a starter amp, its able to compete with amps 2x-3x its price.
