I still have not gotten brave or purchased the parts to try this on my Simaudio integrated. Keep getting tempted reading this thread. Keep thinking about just buying the HifiMan 5m cable and cutting the end off.

That's what I did with my 1/4" adapter cord. Then took the plug and had one made for a replacement. I wanted the same cable from amp to driver. eddie, my first tube amp had the posts on either side of the frame so my first attempt also fell short......Those damned three inches.

I also want to thank you for "The Piano Guys". If I hadn't read in this thread that you were using them as evaluation music I probably wouldn't have stumbled upon their music. I'm glad I did. It is amazing and has consumed just about all of my listening time ever since.
 
So, I thought I'd repay the favor..... Please, checkout Musica Nuda (if you haven't already) amazon link. It's along the same vein with a Cello and Petra Magoni's astonishing vocals. Especially their version of 'Imagine' - Goosebumps are inevitable.

Yes.  Good point.  The speaker taps were actually made several months ago, but sat on my shelf.  I just finished a balanced Mogami cable for the HifiMAN headphones, too.  I did use the blue and red heatshrink on those, though.

I'm getting noise  with the emotiva with my he400 and he500 around 8:30 on the volume knob
 
anyone else experiencing this?

White noise? Is there a source playing?
Check connections, might be a loose cable at the binding posts or possibly that a + and - are shorting together.

i disconnected the source completely and just headphones into amp and am getting it. 
 
I checked all connections.  not sure what the problem is

Do you have any speakers to connect to the amp?
 
One more thing to try - unplug the amp and use a different outlet.

PS Audio makes good DACs, but they also seem to sell HDMI cables and power cables, systems, etc for ridiculous prices. Anything I'm missing here.
