HDCD list

I've said it before, but this list is great, it's way more reliable than the old one on hdcd.com, and even that's no longer. I saw the same thing a while ago, Microsoft just did away with it and only has some basic info on HDCD a couple of steps off their main page. Interesting way to promote a technology you bought the rights for.

I've has this CD for months, but never noticed that the HDCD light was on...

I got this as birthday gift a couple weeks ago (my first CD gift ever), I thought it would be bad and didn't listen to it until now. OMG, what a surprise when the HDCD light lit up! It isn't labeled anywhere.

Butterfly Jones -- Napalm Springs is an HDCD.

Didn't read the whole thread, but I doubt if anyone mentioned it.

It sounds excellent, too.

I'm sure someone probably mentioned Brian Wilson - Smile though.

I did a search of this thread and came up blank, so I guess this one has not been mentioned before.

I've owned this for a long time, but never noticed that it has HDCD printed on the back of the label, on the disc and in the booklet.

Andrew Bird's The Swimming Hour is one, and what a doozy! Probably the biggest difference between redbook and HD of the four that I own (of course, I sold my HD-ready CD player).

Nanci Griffith "Other Voices, Too (A Trip Back to Bountiful)" I'm listening to it now, a fine cd, HDCD logo on cover. Another is John Prine's "Souvenirs" it has no indication I can find notating HDCD but the little light comes on. Also, the sound is so deep it has to be encoded.
Too many pages on this thread to check so I hope these haven't been mentioned.

I have this CD for a long time; the reason that I didn't mention it earlier is that I didn't think it is easily available: the label, Well-Tempered Productions, had long folded. However, this CD can still be bought through Mikhailova's personal site.

Mikhailova is a Russian-born vocalist/instrumentalist who draws from various Russian/Indian/central Asian/middle Eastern influences. This is the kind of CD that you want to play to your friends in hi-fi gatherings. Musically it is a bit too lacking in focus, too all-over-the-place for me, but fans of Lisa Gerrard will definitely be thrilled.

All recordings from the erstwhile Well-Tempered Production are HDCDs, and they say so on the package. They specialised (not too successfully) on classical music and classical crossovers, with the occasional World Music CD.
