not sure if I'd be comfortable with a partially crimped connection. Are there 1/8 connectors with twist or screw connections? would these be viable?
I don't mind if the screw on connector is longer, but the full length of 1/4 + adapter is a bit excessive.

I'll probably just order a spare cable ($7 from senn directly), and experiment with the new one.

Thanks for the heads up on the discount!

I was having a hard time choosing between the HD 555s, and the AD700s.

It's funny how price helps! I'll probably get the AD700s in the future.

As of 12:00 PM, PST, they had 250 left!!!

I think you can get the AD700's from buydig for about the same price, ~80.
I have both now although I'm probably only keeping one

Just got mine in today. They sound like total crap out of my iPod touch...like, really bad. BUT, they sound really, really good out of my Xonar DX! This is without burn-in or mods, too! Very smooth sounding, and plenty of bass as well! I'm used to my ATH-M50s as well.

i beg to differ on the change a lot.  after 100 hours you can definately notice a difference and by 200+ hours they sound their best.  ask anyone, these headphones take forever to burn in but once they do they sound so much better than right out of the box, believe me.

FWIR, many actually prefer the 595 and 600 to the 650s.  Apparently the 555 is made to modded to 95% 595 if I'm not terribly off.

lol i think he just meant he got them shipped to his work.  i doubt they will stay there.  the hd555 are great all-arounders for everything.  the perfect headphone for starting out in the audiophile world i think.

I think I might have to do that mod sooner than I thought. The sound at current is pure crap. lol, I've been reading people complaining about the Senn's before burn-in but never did I think it'd sound this bad. Can't wait till 100 hours.
