Too much color mismatch, not a fan. :frowning2:
I think one of those things that probably looks a little better in person. If u look at photos in first post the gold looks different on almost every photo. It might be a paint that catches light differently at different angles

The gold color is fine, but the remaining silver parts clash a lot IMO, especially the cable connectors and the cups' intermediate section.

It's difficult to catch the gold color it really has

Welp. I guess this marks the end of Sennheiser innovation.
The HD800S is still the best price/performance high end headphone on the market. Anything Sennheiser releases in this price bracket they'd just be competing with themselves.

Yeah there are some similar tuned headphones people like better but they often cost $800-$2300 more, and even after all that cost not a clear win.

This is clearly just a fun release to celebrate their anniversary

Nah they just play the long game. You look at the HD-600/650, so many years in, and they are still bought and sold, still hold their own. The other side of it is the many boutique lines out today that release a new headphone every year, they all sound nice, but leave no lasting impression on the market. Honestly to me that is much less appealing.

A value-leader. Eh. Sure. The expression of SoTA. Nope. They are no longer inspired.
