!!!This should be a fun meet on Saturday the 28th!!!
This should allow a couple of more people to have a couple of drinks.
I'll try to provide some Scotch and maybe some good wine. I really like red wine from Rhone (south of France, and a favourite of mine as well as some of my friends
), so maybe we could enjoy something nice. Please bring something to enjoy with the other enthusiasts if you want - this could be Scotch, good beer, wine or whatever you like. We have an eclectic and all-round fun crowd that generally enjoys a little of everything.
Personally I'm just looking forward to having a little Scotch with
Bryan (@charliex
) at the beginning of the meet, before things are set up just so we can enjoy talk time before the meet starts.
I know I spend the first 2 hours setting things up with tables, equipment, power cables, and all that stuff, plus of course the bar, so I'll make time for a few of the favourites.
The meet officially starts at noon (12pm), and if you show up at that time, we will still be setting up the room, so please help out. I usually start setting up the room at 11:30 to get things ready, and by 12:00 I'm still in the middle of things and appreciate the help to move tables and chairs. I usually tell people to
not show up early, at least until 1:00pm
because that's when the room is set up and things are getting started, so we can all have fun.
If you show up before 1:00pm, it would be appreciated to help with setup. Yeah, it takes me a few hours to set things up, so show up after 1pm, or help set up the room.
------
I will have my full workbench kit with me if you need any cables or work done on an amplifier that needs fixing.
No Beta22 fixing, but other projects are possible, especially cable work - RCA, XLR, Adapters, etcs. All at best prices for custom work.
----
I will also have a couple of projects for sale:
I've gotten my hands on a few power supplies by Kevin Gilmore called the Golden Reference Low Voltage (GRLV), they are the best PSUs measured so far, so I decided to complete a couple of my projects that have been on the workbench. All are using the best parts available, custom 6mm brushed aluminium front and rear panels, as all my builds are. I always choose all parts as best available for the purpose and I go with the build that I use myself. These are a couple of builds that I made for myself that I won't be using myself as much as I would like to. This is the reason I'm allowing people at the meet to buy my builds at approximately parts costs, not at the usual price I would charge for a custom amplifier build like this. I have spent many (20+) hours designing the casework, choosing the best parts, ordering, building and assembling the builds. Please enjoy my build as much as it's really meant to be appreciated.
I will be offering the following:
- Transconductance Amplifier - The perfect amplifier for Planars, as designed by Kevin Gilmore. It's a similar design to FirstWatt Power Amps (Current Source Output, not Voltage output!) - $800
- SuSy Dynalo MK2 (Super Symmetry Balanced Dynalo) - Balanced/Unbalanced output from balanced/unbalanced input; perfect amplifier for . Think HeadAmp GS-X MK2, but with a newer circuit by Kevin Gilmore, modern parts and the most advanced PSU ever created by Dr. Gilmore!. It's the best Dynalo design I've ever seen or heard, with the best PSU. - $1200
- EHHA Rev A (Alex Cavalli Tube hybrid amplifier, maxed out build with Telefunken tubes and Alps RK40 POT). - $975
- Bijou (Alex Cavalli Futterman OTL pure tube amplifier, the absolute best Sennheiser HD600/HD650/HD800 amplifier!) - $925
- FrankenGrado Headphone #1 (Elleven Acoustica drivers, wood cups, Sony headband, custom cable) - $350
- FrankenGrado Headphone #2 (Turbulent Labs Magnum V5 drivers, wood cups, Grado headband, custom cable) - $400
The Head-Fi posted prices are in USD, but I will do the same price in CAD for this meet and we can negotiate a bit if you want to grab something on the spot! Expect that I'll have a hundred dollars off for any Torontonians on the amps I can't do much on the custom headphones but the amps might be below parts costs at this time. Get yourself an amazing amplifier for less the costs of actually building it yourself. I had fun building it, you can have fun listening to it.
