GS1000 vs. GS1000i

Is it possible to see a difference between GS1000 and GS1000i? Grado haven´t put the "i" after gs1000 or is it possible to see it anywhere else on the phones?

Thanks,

Look at the cable. The GS1000i have it thicker and shorter. The "i" cable is pretty heavy, BTW.

from Grado's site:

"Featuring a new species of handcrafted Mahogany earpieces made using an intricate curing process; Grado has been able to optimize the tonal quality. The GS1000i uses new upgraded dynamic transducers and the new 8 conductor cable design"

so it's definitely not just the cable,if i were you i'd get the GS1000i

The direct comparison didn't tell me there could be three changed parts. It is just to small to be caused by the transducer change. Both transducers look identically. Maybe there are some invisible differences but the difference is still too small to blame anything else than the cable. I know how two different pieces of GS1000 can sound, or have different weight due to wood changes that have never been announced. All in all the GS1000i is just more transparent and resolving, instead of slight eufonic coloration of the GS1000 but you hear them only in direct comparison. When you live with one of them, you don't even know what I'm talking about.

The GS1000 (I own) and GS1000i (do not own but tried out several times, in several shops) seem to be the same in essence. Large, warm sounding, hall sounding like... One guy I spoke to today in Waterloo told me he thought they both sounded fairly echo-y, and that there was no real difference in sound presentation. I thought so too... So my opinion is that they sound the same :). Hope that helped...

Sorry for replying to such an old post by the way...
