Grado e Series

The weight difference is really noticeable. I picked up the PS500 for £270 and the RS2E for £250 so both good deals...

I feel like setting up a competition with a reward for anyone who can consistently distinguish between 60, 80, 125, 225, 325, Rs2e and Rs1e in proper blind testing...

Distinguishing between the 60/80/125 could be tough however figuring out the rest wouldn't be too hard i don't think.

I've posted a similar question in the PS1000 impressions thread.

I gave you an answer in the "PS-1000 Thread" last night well before posting the same question here. BTW, your welcome.
Forgive my post, but I notice lately a lot of posters ask for advice/guidance or experiences with something, and don't have the decency to even reply with a simple thank you for the reply…even if it helps you or not…its called common courtesy.

Oh I see. No, genuinely not - just intrigued as to just his different some of these are. I LOVE Grado but think I'd struggle between the headphones next to each other in the line up. I could definitely tell the 325 apart, but the 60 and 80? I doubt I could consistently....

I haven't asked for a comparison, but I am thankful that you fiends have swayed me into buying the 325e and "donating" my 80i to my dad.

Ah okay, cool...are you able to hear differences between your PS500 and the RS-2e with no problem?

lol, hey I think it's great you're going to pass along your 80s! I've had the pleasure of "donating" several pairs to friends over the past couple years, and it's so cool to see them so surprised that headphones could sound so good. Kudos, brother :)

Enjoy those 325es!!!!

Yes I think that's fairly easy, but they do have very different sound signatures, whilst still being Grado. The PS500 are the least Grado sounding Grados I've heard (never heard the PS1000).

I once auditioned the RS1 and RS2 years back, and struggled with those two though, as I did with 125 and 225s. It would be interesting to see how many people could consistently do it?

Back to my RS2e and PS500 to decide which to keep....!

I love the PS500e but it has too much bass.  Darn! I may return them and try the SR325e which everyone seems to say sounds like the 500e but with less bass.

That's how I was brought up, so I agree with you 100%. Please, thank you, may I?, would it be possible?, sorry, etc..these words are now, few, and far between.

The only time this would happend to me, is when my Crohn's flares up, when it happends, I can go several days without turning my computer on.

By the way Joseph, is it just me, or the RS2s have never been more popular, than they have been the last few days?. They've always been in the RS1's shadow, it's nice to see them get some respect.

If your bass preference is truly honest, then you should probably go for the RS-1, not the SR325.  Grado doesn't change much in their entire headphone line.  The differences are in the cups and how well they match/refine the drivers.  In the SR325, the drivers are probably not that refined (in the pool of drivers in the box) and I'm not sure, but there may be no wood at all in those cups.  That means the sound will tend to be a bit grainy and tizzy - as with the rest of the SR line.

The primary difference between the PS500 and the RS-1 is that the outer cups are metal and weigh a ton in comparison.  Inside, they're both mahogany.  So, those hefty outer metal cups in the PS500 put a lot more weight on your ear, resulting in better bass.  Meanwhile, the RS-1's are fairly light in the weight on the ears, so their sound will be almost the same, but with less bass.

JMHO ...
