HD800 is known to have the biggest soundstage (apart from Akg k1000 ear speakers) along with others like AKG K701/2.

But in some odd way, Grado w/bowls seem to have a larger soundtage.
What do I mean?

When I listen to Senns or AKGs I feel closed in.
While on the Grado with bowls, specifically the RS1i, I feel less closed in.
The Senns and AKGs soundstage feels like I'm in a bigger room, more space, yet the room is closed. Therefore the closed in feeling.
However, when I listen to the Grados, I feel like in a smaller room, but it's as if the doors and windows are open. Therefore the more open feeling.

Put it in another way, the Grados feel or sound less contained, like the AKG K1000, the music is not contained in the ear cups, while the AKGs or Senns have a large soundtage but it feels or sounds more contained in it's cups, be it bigger cups.

The sound does not spill over outside the ear cups like the Grados.

I don't know if Zanth mentioned this before, I maybe miss stating this, that while Senns and AKGs may have bigger headstage, but Grados have bigger soundstage.

Am I totally off?
