Is he talking about the (happy) Neil Young PONO player?

LOL, I still have mine! It was damn good with the Sony XBA-Z5! Until the Z5 fell apart... saddest $700 buy of my life...

In case you were wondering if you should get the status 3anc, you should not. Noble h anc sounds better and has better anc. Back to amazon!

Way back in May of 2023 when I first had the Status Audio 3ANC, bunch of us here really enjoyed them. Actually preferred them to the NHANC. So did others. As you know, it's all subjective.

First 3 days with Nothing Ear 2024.

Versus the Airpods Pro 2, these sound better. Easily. The driver is just more technically capable and it's obvious. More detail, better seperation, better staging.

These remind me of the Pi7 S2 but with better resolution up top and a tighter bass. They are better.

The PEQ on the app is insanely good. I've used auto EQ to create some profiles, Singularity, IE900, Harman IE 2019, my own fun tuning, and I tried someone elses hd580 EQ too - people can upload their EQs and you can load them instantly scanning a QR code. You can store apparently tons of EQ profiles and the switch is instant, maybe 500ms, so you can compare profiles easily. Profiles sound dramatically different, the tws responds very well to EQ.

Comfort is better than APP2, my previous top dog, because I can use my own tips but its the same super snug short nozzle design. Very nice.

ANC is superb. 75% or so of APP2. Controls are identical to APP2 but you can customise them, so it's a win there.

Case is the best design I've seen in a tws, Idk about you guys but im really tired of taking buds out of a case and one hasnt charged, because of some bit of lint or whatever stopping full contact. These are the strongest magnets ive found in a tws, and you can see the connector, and because its horizontal, stuff wont build up over the connector. Very very nice design.

I'm pretty smitten by them, moreso than the PI8 I got a few weeks ago. I think the onboard EQ is a gamechanger, as all tws have tuning limitations and now you can EQ those out easily, with Q values, etc etc.

Overall, this would be an A+ at £300. I'd easily take it over a PI7 S2 or even PI8 personally (some may prefer sound on PI8, hard to say, I think if you tinker with PEQ these will sound better than PI8 as you can match your preference vs the archaic eq on pi8), and it has all the convenience of my APP2.

They have on flaw, simple EQ is about 20% louder than PEQs, no idea why. Expect it to be fixed in a firmware update.

These are so good I may do a video. For £129 it's a very safe blind buy imo. Oh, and they have LDAC.

Yeah, people keep saying that. I don't get it. H anc are more resolving with better ANC. Tuning preference matters, but I EQ, so that's less relevant for me than most, probably. I don't really street. I rip CDs and use power amp. Perhaps that matters.

As I said previously, What you get for the price - it's one of the best deals out there with the Nothing Ear 2024, most are label snobs so won't ever experience it. Sad.
Will be getting their new Nothing ear (open) for the gym, interested to see what they do with it's 14mm driver.

Yup they are being slept on hard. The Peq in the app is very well done and shows they care a lot more about audio than most other brands

Thanks for the write up.

Because of the short nozzle, do you find you still achieve a good, secure seal? If I'm to consider buying these, they'd need to stay securely in my ears while running.

But damn, looking through their website, looks a great product.

Ah yes, I am a runner and also have to spec my tws accordingly lol. I've had a lot of difficulty running with tws but a lot of it is personal ear shape, MW08, PI7 S2, PI8 they just don't work for me on a run. The only tws that seems to work is the Airpods Pro 2 (or mw07 go, they have special wings to hold them in place, awesome design, but terrible sound).

Anyway, the fact I run with APP2 probably is a clue that the shallow fit really works for me. I can get an even better fit on the Nothing Ear, because they work with universal tips, so I use some Moondrop ones from my Neocake, theyre a tad bit less tapered, so give a better seal and stay in place better than my APP2, which ever so slightly lose their seal over the course of a run.

But yeah, at least for me personally these fit very well for exercising. Heavy iems with a deep fit I find need readjustment a lot, hence keeping the APP2 lying around all these years.

They are very good, if you can make the fit work I'd say they're a superb buy for anyone into audio.

I currently use Sony WF-1000XM4 which stay secure in my ears nicely. I think the nozzle on them are a lil longer than these types of TWS.

So the Nothing Ear Open are the first earphones that I've ever had to reduce the bass on, which is wild considering I bass boost the Noble Fokus Prestige lol. The fit and comfort of the Nothing Ear Open is significantly better than the Noble Kama that I also ordered, which is disappointing but expected considering they're an audio-focused brand vs a consumer brand. The Kama fit is so bad on me that I can't even compare sound quality.

Soundstage is nice on the Nothing Ear Open just like any other flathead set.

I think I still prefer the Bose Ultra Open over all other open-style earbuds, especially since they've apparently fixed the annoying noise floor issue, but can't justify the price. If I can get it secondhand within the next month I'll probably end up returning the Nothing Ear.

Yes the personalised sound and EQ settings are quite intricate for a set costing this much. I'm impressed. I love how you can share your settings as well with others. They work fantastic as a running earphone I find but I suspect the Nothing Ear Open would work better for running/gym/rock climbing, etc.

Would be interested in what they do with their over ear headphones they must have in their pipeline.
