Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

the oneplus and oppo and huewai TWS are airpod style which I dont like so I dont really like that design. prefer the conventional IEM shape that has no stem.
at its price point its surprising that the AZ60 is only 1 driver

The Enco X2 arrived this morning just before I left the door so they're on charge awaiting their first play when I get home later this afternoon.

A/B test to follow.

Just FYI, they're sold out now.
Looking forward to hearing about it. I missed the sale as I'm out of the UK but thanks all the same.

Was about to get the X2 from Alibaba before I saw the PSB get released. So waiting to hear about that too.

Is a megneto-stat just considered a double driver? Cause the info on the PSB only indicates a hybrid.

I read a Magneto-static as a driver that used currents instead of voltages (don't really understand the difference). I do know that they are claiming the mag-stat adds to the bass but in my experience dynamics do bass better than planar.

Regardless I hear what you're saying about the power. Planar in general needs the juice. The Chinese brands using it + a dynamic are only hitting 4 hours and all the wired planars I've used or read about can't be run off a phone properly.

On the other hand, the UM U-Free specifically mentions it's power capabilities which is why I got it (first time I'd seen that) but it didn't help the sound.
Most likely it is the same combo driver from Earbridge plus a planar of some sort. In the BGVP earphones, the Tape, the Sabbat E16. Doubtful they pulled off some special 3 individual driver thing and all the software and internals plus R&D in a TWS for the $199 selling price. I see now looking at the announcements where the dual planar and hybrid dual driver stuff comes from. The dual thing makes sense since it is one magneto driver and one planar. Really 3 with the dynamic in the MS.

That makes sense. Ty for clarification.

Sabbat e16 sounded ok but I would expect a brand which specialises in MS speakers to do better. On the other hand, first tws, could be worse

OK, the Evo are a definite mixed bag. I can understand why they have under performed. Without a custom EQ the ID thing sound exaggerated unless you redo it over and over. Like Sennheiser they used a "which do you like better" process which kept giving a super over the top sound. I finally picked out one of the simpler songs and deliberately chose a couple subdued choices to get an ID sound I liked.

Given this was the only way to EQ whe these were released, I can see how this would have led to lots of returns.

I played with the custom EQ and found a nice EQ I like and am bouncing between it and the ID one.

The EQ shifts pretty dramatically between the sound modes.

The lack of customizations for controls also is very limited and off putting.

Sonically, once you have these dialed in they do sound pretty awesome. Will use them for a few days and see what think.

Fit wise they a very comfy but feel a bit insecure which is a bit concerning.
I had these last July 2022 and did feel the sound awesome after Sound ID tuning. Build quality was impressive too! That said, I did return them. My experiences with 1More's customer service was awful regarding different pair of buds that kept losing battery charge. They will only replace a unit once within a year. So... buyer beware! If I ever decide to kick the tires again, I'll be sure to add an Amazon Asurion Warranty!

Swapping back and forth between the EVO, MTW3, XM4, and GB2P, I have to say the EVO arguably sound better than the other 3. The level of detail is high, the sound is balanced with no areas being missed, and they have really good imaging that is more holographic. They get compared to the Liberty 3 Pro alot but I think their bass is more balanced and the treble is not as metallic sounding.

Where they fall down is the controls which are as bad as s
Sony. The EQ shift between ANC, OFF and ambient (with a more balanced EQ or ID is not as severe). The ANC and ambient modes work well enough I think they are OK.

So if a person is willing to work on the sound until it meets their needs, the EVO have a very good sound quality and enough features so make them compelling.

I am going to have to make a call on what to keep soon. Still a bit early to say which direction I will go but these are in the running. I have a feeling I will end up deciding between these and the MTW3 or possibly the GB2P. The XM4 are still pretty compelling to me and offer a more opposite signature which may keep them in the running.

If the XM5 ends up going multi driver I will be very interested to see if they manage to do as good a sound as these with a Sony spin on the signature. If so, I might be selling all of these and just going that direction.

I do enjoy trying all the different sounds and options. Need to win the lottery so I can enjoy the hobby of testing more LOL.

I wouldn't be surprised if 1More dump the SoundID feature. As has been mentioned numerous times on this forum, if they offered an EQ in their app, they might be a more popular choice against the competition.

Of those two I'm more curious about the PSB, more about the dual planar than the "RoomFeel" thing. I bought the Letshour S12 and was very impressed, though they were ultimately too raw for me. Now we have a bass-mid planar like that coupled with the ribbon tweeter that the oppo hauwei 1plus use with a dynamic driver. Then add all that expert tuning and, yeah I'm definitely curious.

But then I just laid out for all the family summer travel, so it's glass half-full appreciation time for me and my current gear. Hopefully someone else here will bite.
Been hovering over the purchase button for a few days ....

On the Technics AZ60s if the earbuds are 90% full and you put into case then it should charge them to 100 and stop I assume?
On my brand new pair I charged the buds in the case fully before using and then I used the buds until 90% and then put into case but 2 days later the case is showing red light that battery is low. Is this normal? I thought it could charge fully 2 times and not just 10%?
