hi!
Yes I did try them. I ordered a pack of 3 from Idealsound at ebay.
Before I had the Atrio I used the 3X flanges with other IEMs like Crossroads X3 and Creative EP-630.
I had very good results as regards comfort and sound isolation. Very good results. Those were the 3X flanges without a stem.
So when I received them, the 3X flanges with a stem, I was sure I would have the same comfort and sound isolation. But no, it did not work out like that.
They were not comfortable, if they were pushed just a bit too deep in the ear they cut-off the sound. The bass was not really present.
I was very surprised and I attribute those results to the lenght of the stem of the Atrio. Somehow it interfers with the fantastic properties those 3X flanges possess.
I tried cutting the stem of the flanges, also removing one of the flanges but did not get satisfactory results.
Maybe you, Leonard, could try it by yourself and let us know if the same happenned for you!
In my quest to find the PERFECT tip I ordered on ebay a home-made tip that fits E4C and other Shure IEMs. (E2C,E3C,etc). They are made with earplugs material that have been cut and holed. They look tiny on the Atrio. Surprisingly they do the job. they are confortable and isolate relatively well. I kept them as the backup tip. However I continued looking because the isolation was not exactly like the Atrio foamies.
The last I bought in my quest is a pair of Shure yellow foamie and they are the best!! They isolate more than the Atrio foamies, they give a very good sound, they look terrible but they last ...
The Atrio foamie are very good but they do not last. The plastic sleeve inside starts to move and that's it for the isolation. On the Shure all the yellow foamie is like "glued" on the stem, it is very hard to remove and I think that is why they isolate so well.
So it's been 2 weeks I am using the same Shure yellow foamie and I want to use it to the end to find out how long they last. Then I will buy some more.
There are still a few more tips I want to try but at about $15 a try I'll space my test.
I have 5 pairs of Atrio foamies that I keep "in the vault" ,like good wine to try out for the exceptional music.LOL
My god, I have to go work!!!!
regards,,
