I would nominate the AKG K1000.
They still amazes med after 2 years of ownership.

What do you like about the AKG? How would you compare the accuracy to a 701K?

I nominate HD600 as well, your best bet.  The only others I know of are the upper Hifimans, but they are IEMs.

I do like the fact that it is quite neutral and very detailed. It seems to be able to bring out all the small details of a record, and present in in a close-to-real way. Not far from what you would have heard if you were there in the recording studio.

No comparison.
The K1000 do run circles around the K701.

The K-702 does timbre surprisingly well out of my Burson HA-160. Honest opinion. Without the right amp, it is pale and malnourished.

Lots of Dynamat Xtreme and cotton dampening!

O2Mk1: strings, brass, woodwind, percussion, and voices sound very accurate. And the bass extends very deep.
 
Haven't examined the K1000. Would like to.
