Just got the box from Japan. Initial impression, very very nice.
The front reminds me of the Yamaha EPH-100, not easy I guess to find aternative tips?

It's been super easy for me. Almost all my tips fit except for the ety tips. The Sony hybrid tips fits great.

I have TE-05 now and owned EPH-100 before. Recalling my memory, TE-05 are more sparkling than the EPH-100. Both are not classified as basshead IEMs.
eph100 are very much basshead in my eyes. just not the bloated kind. cardo basso would be the standard kind of basshead iem.
if i size was most important, the eph100 could replace some phones like the basso... or the xb90ex.
xb90 are still the best bass phones ive hear. H3 are a clear upgrade, but the xb90 reach the deepest.

headphone.com has a 20% off sale until July 7 just by signing up to their newsletter. That brings the TE-05 to $120 with free shipping. The sale can be applied to almost all their inventory.

are the te05s really that similar to the mikros 90s? despite what anyone says those are indeed my favorite headphones if the te05s are really that close i will have to heavily consider them as my choice

I tried the Fiio cable and didn't have a good fit with the TE-05 like it has with the FX850.

I just picked these up at e-earphone in Tokyo, because they were cheap and I am huge fan of my Fostex speaker system.
These IEMs are good. Disturbingly good. With tip experimentation, I think these are actually MY FAVORITE iem, and I have much much more expensive units (Ortofon 5 and 7, JVC fxz200 and . . . Shure 846).
Like I said, disturbing.
They somehow have the Fostex speaker sound - super detailed, fast, clear and satisfying bass. I only paid about $US80 for these on sale . .
Running some JVC silicon tips. Really spectacular.
