Fostex T60RP

If you did that on your T40Mk3 with stock pads, I can imagine this is a very open but warm sound. Lack of subbass, upper bass may bleed to mid and..... all those slam things will gone.

It's a totally different sound as the T60.

Yes I am talking about - with stock T20/40/50 pads, totally open cup vents and no baffle foam, try it and be surprised!

Of course, we agree that the stock pads comfort leaves a lot to be desired but worth the slight discomfort!

I don't like the T20 or T40 (with open cup vents) with stock foam rings and pads, far too much bass that ruins it for me.

Any links for the "Acoustic Research AR-H1" pads would be welcome?

I don't feel the Mk2/Mk3 stock pads very uncomfortable, better then most of the on-ear phone I have.

If you totally open cup vents on a T40, I think what you are doing is make a T40 to becomes a T20. Their differences are just the cup vents cover.
However I don't have any Mk3 so I'm not sure the T40 baffle ring identical as T20.

I received the T60 yesterday but the cups are so noisy - creaks and squeaks. Not even something that can be tolerated. Back they go. Very disappointed. Sound-wise it's hard to give an informed opinion but they seem extremely harsh and sibilant in the treble. Perhaps break in and different amp pairings would improve it. However, I don't think these are for me.

Probably some rubber like mechanism causing the sound. Similar to what happened with a Nighthawk I had a while back - the little suspension rubber bands would creak.

If you have to open them to fix it, you are already losing. Not an expensive headphone but still unacceptable issue to have.

Classified as a first world problem in my opinion, unless I'm eating when they are on its not noticeable.

I'm also very sensitive to treble and do not find these harsh at all.

To each their own ...

Agreed, they did a HifiMan on them and shot themselves in the A**!!!

Get yourself the T40 Mk3 which has a better baffle foam which reduces treble glare.

However if you like the Hawks (which have no treble and personality) don't bother.

I've got to be honest, every post you put in this thread is negative.

If you feel the need to hump the legs of the T40's, perhaps posting in another thread would be more beneficial to your ego.

I cant stand this type of nature that is commonly found on /r/headphones ... I guess you cant get away from it no matter where you go.

I have the Mad Dog 3.2, which is darker but still smooth and balanced. I don't have the Nighthawk anymore. It was beautifully made and super comfortable but I had a love/hate relationship with it regarding its sound - the hate part won unfortunately, as it just sounded like listening through pillows over my ears after a while.

The T60 is nice looking and well put together. I've just never heard a headphone creak this much. I am not that picky about such things generally, but this was intolerable. HungryPanda had the same experience.

I think every piece have different level of squeaks. Someone may get a serious one then others.
My T60 left side will squeaks when I swallow or move my brow.
