  It's an interesting thing about the T50.  It "wakes up" when there is a lot of power to spare.  

and just to be clear this is not "volume power" as in cranking it  I assume you mean.

Can you elaborate on that? The T50RP does not take much power to get to listening levels, so what's the sense of having waaaaaaay more power than that? Unless you want to blow your eardrums/headphones?

If it were easy to answer all amps would sound amazing. Class a amps can sound great at low power ratings but in general more headroom keeps more of the circuit in the most linear range. Bigger power supplies help too, keeping the voltages in the system well regulated, etc.

It's really hard to give an answer that doesn't have a ton of exceptions.

Uh did I just kill my T50RPs?
I was recabling internally the left channel of my T50RPs. It was successful but at a certain position, the sound cuts off from the left channel so I redid the solder many times again to get it perfect but now it seems to have burnt the tracing and I can't tin it anymore. The solder just won't stick.

So I guess this is it then. RIP my T50RPs (unless there's a magic way to repair it).
I guess I need to buy another pair but what should I do with this one?

That looks pretty bad. You can scrape the bit of copper on the path to the pads and solder directly there and hope it works. Glue it up afterwards.

You do not want to be messing around in there with a soldering iron unless you are very very skilled. Hop over to your local electronics store and pick up some conductive epoxy for that type of repair.

The much safer method is to leave some of the original wire connected, and attach new wires to that.
 
But do try some of that conductive epoxy. Good luck...

+1, this has been mentioned numerous times, very few people have success soldering directly to the driver. Use an adjustable temp iron on the lowest setting, small diameter solder, on and off quickly. "so I redid the solder many times again to get it perfect", probably not a good idea. @ VortexBlast, can definitely be repaired using the "Quickie" soldering method or conductive epoxy.

Tin your wire, scrape some of the copper tracing and peel the copper up a tad. Apply some Flux to the peeled up copper trace and hold the tinned wire against it. Tape the wire to the orange plastic so that the tip of the wire is touching the trace. Touch your soldering iron to the wire, slowly and purposely, and the second the Solder melts, take it off. I would have the headphones plugged in and playing while doing this so you can tell if you have a connection. Once you get a good connection, glue/epoxy the wire to the orange plastic and when that dries, seal it up.

I was able to fix my pair that was burnt just like that. They've been fairly abused since then and holding strong

I'm willing to bet that any V-Moda pads will be far too small for the T50RP. No idea on that amp, should be fine though.

Here is my latest DBV#3. When a friend accidentally bought two T50RP's, I gladly jumped on the extra one. Now that I have a reference, I'll need to go back to tuning my other pair to work with Alphas... Thanks again, Keith. This guide is awesome!
