92 db/mW with 3000 mW

is it just that it can handle some higher volume than 92 db

when i want to higher it to a desired higher level, around 100 db or at least quite loud, it all just get distorted, is it that the driver cant handle this?
or is it just my setup?

Has anyone tried the T50RP mk3 with the Fostex HP-A4 DAC/Amp? Will the HP-A4 be able to power the mk3 properly?

By data, headphone output is 100mW(32ohm), so probably not powerful enough. But it have RCA output which deliver 2Wrms, which is more for speakers for pre-section., but maybe it can be used for headphone that can handle that power(fostex should do that easily with it's max input power of 3000mW). But i don't know really. In this review(http://www.head-fi.org/t/725708/the-fostex-hp-a4-dac-headphone-amplifier-the-little-black-box-that-could) he was using t50rp among others, but doesn't say about how well they sound. But IMO you should look elsewere.
Good one for that kind of cans are models from Vioelectric or Lake people, also chinese copy GUSTARD H10

Hey, so I've had my t20rp mk3's for a few weeks now and absolutely love the sound! I still love my k7xx's but they get a lot less listening now. Unfortunately these are super uncomfortable for me. I have some shure 840 pads and the comfort is now significantly improved, but I feel like I screwed up the sound just a bit. Everything is just a little less clear now, and while I still like their sound, I think they were a little better stock. Does anybody have a suggestion for how I can fix the sound via modding, and keep the 840 pads. I really don't want to shell out another 40 bucks on the Alcantara pads, although I've heard the hm5 hybrids might work and the 20 bucks for those is reasonable, so I could be persuaded to just buy the hybrids. Also, I find the headband to be crazy uncomfortable... Any recommendations for fixing that? Thanks!!

Stay away from hybrids, especially if you like the sound of default pads. I own them and think is not even worth make modding with them, as they ruin sound already from start  too much. I can't imagine, how some people recommend them even without modding They totally squash the midds. And job of modding in that case should be bringing back midds. But this is hardest thing to do. Rather start modding with pads, that doesn't ruin midds(at lieast not much), like 840 and then focus on lows and highs.. Headband is what it is, you can buy something like http://www.mayflowerelectronics.com/shop/headphones/fostex-t50rp-comfort-headband/ or made for yourself from foam. Also Fostex paradox mod use some kind of leather strap that go over your head, so you can again made that for yourself or contact Luis Flores from his site to sell you that strap separately http://enigmaticaudio.com/product/paradox/

840 pads are very good. Nice and cheap, decent.

But you are correct in some ways. It's not so much as its "less clear" there's just more bass, it over shadows the treble a bit, making it sound muddy. 840 pads tend to add a distinctive hump in response in the mid bass-bass area. (Also why beats sound "clear" lots of treble)

To fix this, there's a few things you can do. Damping is the easiest. Restricting the amount of air movement the driver has, to make it hard for it to move. (In a nutshell, has to do with changing resonances) closing cup vents, adding cotton (kinda)

Check the incremental mods and measurements thread. Its for mk2s but much of it should carry over, beit not directly though.

Could anyone share information how this $50 cashback will work if I buy from online or physical store? Will Fostex send the cheque to my address if I bought it from a physical store? Or it would issue a credit to buy anything worth $50 from the same store?
