Feeling a little tuckered out so I've switched to my ThieAudio Excaliburs plugged into my Cayin N8ii for a little listening in bed with my big boxer, Sid Vicious, here to cheer me up. She's a big lug, but she's an awesome dog and since the gf is out of town for the weekend she's definitely enjoying the extra bed space lol! 😂

I have Dream Theater's 2011 (I think) effort A Dramatic Turn of Events in hi-res on deck. The combination of the Excaliburs and the N8ii has quickly become a go to setup for IEM listening for me and this album really plays right into the strengths of the chain it's playing on. The low end rendering in particular is very well done with everything kept tight, punchy, and articulate so you can follow every stroke of the beaters on the bass drum and still differentiate the intertwined bass guitar line all while excellent tone, timbre, and fidelity are maintained throughout the whole sonic range. I'm loving every second!

Edit: Went ahead and decided that my next pick will be another classic from the 70s, Van Der Graaf Generator's 1975 album Godbluff. An all-time great prog album, IMO. Also, I'm gonna sign off for the night so I wish you all good night or good day, as the case may be, and happy listening.

There's a little bit of everything thrown in this album. Rated E for Everyone. 😜
One of Jada's Favorite Cooper albums.

Still Rocking with:
K702 < Luxman R-113 < Loxjie D30 < Amazon Music HD.

The 702's sound much better than I had anticipated. 🎼🎧🎼🎧😁

JRiver Media Center (PC) > SMSL SU9 > SMSL SH9 > HiFiMAN HE400i w/ Dekoni sheepskin pads

UK by UK - Formed by John Wetton and Bill Bruford after King Crimson went on hiatus. They each recruited a musician to complete the band, Wetton adding Eddie Jobson and Bruford adding Allan Holdsworth. They only kept this line-up for this, their debut album, I guess the huge egos involved reached critical mass and went BOOM! Obviously, with a line-up this good the music is going to be rather impressive but Holdsworth's guitar and guitar-synth playing takes it to another level. Still sporting the HE400i's as this album warrants a delicate touch and these planars make a good job of it while being supremely comfortable. :L3000:

That's a trip! I am literally listening to Trilogy as I type this and I'm on The Endless Enigma Pt. 2. I'm hearing music from The Twilight Zone in my head right now.

So did you buy separate mounting rings or did you just harvest and use the pair from the original pads? I haven't taken the pads off of these to give it a look yet, but I have read some people talking about the pads being glued on to the mounting rings and that its PITA to pull them off. Sounds like I'm gonna have to order the Sheepskins and the Velours now. Gee thanks...🙄😉
The Elite Sheepskin Dekoni pads for the HE series come with rings already installed, so I imagine any specifically for the HE series will have them too.
Very easy installation....

Jada is like Rose from the movie Titanic. She would let you freeze in the cold Ocean too. 😆🤣😆🤣 Rose had room for Jack to get on also. :L3000: She has no soul but yet has taken many. 😏🤔
Like with all women, when loving them there is some of suffering :relieved: Is like us, when trying to justify our audiophile journey to our wives...

Some fond memories come back to me when listening to Pieces of You by Jewel.
The Wife and I played in a band back in the late 90's, early 2000's. You Were Meant for Me and Save Your Soul were on our play list..along with every song off Jagged Little Pill. 👍😁 Great album indeed!

Good album, I remember the day I bought it on vinyl in '73. My favourite of theirs though is Trilogy, I love The Endless Enigma.
Trilogy is my favorite - esp the first 5 cuts. BMG put out a double CD in '16 that has alternate versions. Very nice.

Number two is the first LP. Lucky Man is epic.

I was always a Yes fan before Close to the Edge (I have days of liking it) and ELP up to and including Triology. I think Emerson and Wakeman both became more over the top with time.

Tony Kaye (Yes first 3 LP's) and Tony Banks (Genesis) were both more part of the ensemble. Give me those Greg Lake and Steve Howe heavy songs, and Squire and Bruford all day long.

Got to see U.K. at the Pier in NYC during this tour. You’ve got it exactly right - potentially a supergroup to end all supergroups, almost too good to be true. Had to implode.

* * *

I’m not usually one to go for compilations or tribute albums, but this one from 2006, despite the lame title, is an exception. CD on the ToneCenter label.

Found a new label to explore from discussion in the popular classic music thread here on headfi

Praga Digitals.

Currently listening to this compilation of Stravinksky piano duos. Sound quality and imaging is fantastic. The only piano versions of Rites of Spring I had in my library were for 4 hands not duo piano.

ATH-ADX5000 < smsl ho200 < Gustard DAC-X26PRO < roon < Qobuz

Listen to the release Igor Stravinsky: Works for Two Pianos by Bernard Job on Qobuz https://open.qobuz.com/album/ahsrrxjmujjxb
