Hey BowWazoo!!! Funny, your EQ curve is almost identical to mine, also based off of Oratorys'. And I love your descriptions of the bands effect on sound. I'll have to add the 19Hz high pass filter, thanks!!!

Yes, the interesting thing is, that one would assume, that the deep-bass becomes somewhat "less", but the exact opposite is the case. The deep-bass becomes stronger.
Obviously, the Utopia benefits from a rolloff in this range.

There are many fantastic headphones out there, but I know of only one, that is able to give me goosebumps, when the bassline kicks in!

In my opinion... only in dreams.....I was directly shocked in Munich what prices are proclaimed for student-like contructions or for tonalities that
are beyond a balanced performance
(A long-term tonal performance requires a balanced tonality...where my ear tells me there's nothing/or not much bothering me.....and there's nothing/or not much missing)
Some were so bright that they were inaudible....some so dark where I thought to myself where I thought my ears already have a damage...
Then there were some had as always really thickened in the upper bass
Then come the excuses of exhibitors...it does not matter....all a matter of taste (and that for thousands of Euros️️)
A nightmare describes the current situation better I think....let's see how it ends
(Don't worry I know I'm not making friends with my statement )
NOMAX
PS.lol

Hey All!
Did some playing with EQ on my Utopia's last night ( thanks for inspiration, BowWazoo!), and had a few questions for those more adept than I with EQ. The 19Hz high pass filter right now is set with a low Q of .71, which (if I'm understanding Q right) is a very gentle slope. Wouldn't it be better to have a higher Q to make the slope sharper?
Sort of in the same vein, I have HF hearing loss, I don't really hear much over 11000 Hz (turbine engine mechanic for years). Right now I have my EQ set with a amplitude peak at 11500 (5 db up), then sloping downward, 13000 is about 1 DB down, and a relatively constant slope from there ending up with 20,000 Hz at about 10 DB down. Would it be better to do a low pass filter with a gentle curve at say 13000, sort of the inverse of what the 19Hz high pass was set to?

If you set the HPF above Q 0.71, you will also increase the bass.
Regarding the second question, I would increase band 13. But as far as I am correctly informed, hearing damage also replaces in parallel, or especially, around the 1khz region.

Thanks for the reply! I'll have to test again to see where my hearing is at at 1 kHz, I seem to remember that I have a little boost there, but would need to see my settings to confirm....Regarding the second question, I would increase band 13. I just gotta say, that photo is perfect. Perfect glass of beer at the end of the day with beautiful weather and tunes through one's favorite rig. Brought a smile to my face. Very happy with my outdoor setup enjoying Mozart on my 2020 Utopia on the terrace, and one of the first nice days of late spring after a miserable April and May. I like it that don’t have to carry my Naim Atom HE around.
Sure, the Naim brings the Utopias to a different level, but the little Mojo2 fed with Qobuz highres makes it quite an enjoyable experience. Now the only thing missing is a Negroni sbagliato. Maybe later…

One of the two stock cables that comes with the 2020 version of the Utopia, with 3.5mm. I've never bothered with cable upgrades yet.Nice...enjoy! What HP cable is that?
