No. You are not sick in the head. It is called WISDOM. Your experience tells you what CAN happen in a given situation so you take steps to ameliorate those risks.

This is headfi, using polysyllabical conversation is not within the terms of your use agreement. Lol

I'm like that 24/7 with all situations. Like 5 steps ahead and precalculated all the risks, and usually choose the best route. Over thinking to the max.

I don't even know why you are even talking. You should watch out, because after 300 hours these things (Utopia) are like drugs and I'm officially addicted lol. Who's paying my rehab? The Source? Lmao

I think my IFI amp sounds great! But actually I own the Elear, not Utopia. I had some questions about Focal and been poking around on here.

I really want to hear them, but $4000 is a lot of money, even used it might be out of my price range unless I consolidated down to just it.

I think I might like the LCD 4 better tho. I like to occasionally crank my headphones up and listen to loud, thumping music with lots off bass. And I really like the LCD 3. If there is a drastic improvement from 3 to 4, I would be in heaven! Not sure the Utopia could handle me. The Elear lasted about a week (was a few months old when I got it) before the left side stopped working.

Hi my Elears also lasted a little more than a week (few months old when I bought it too). Right side just off today. Where did you send yours for repairs?

Dang, my Elear has a rattling noise from the right side. I’ve been waiting until the Focal North America team has moved to get the repair going.

I finally got a set of Utopia in house. It's interesting. These are really wonderful for moderate volume listening. The treble quality and overall clarity are absolutely top notch for a dynamic, which I'd also heard in my brief audition. Great mids. Bass is good and satisfying; more bloomy than the Stax of course, which can be preferable at times. I'd say that the Stax 009 (w/ BHSE) still clearly has the lowest distortion from top to bottom, and better transparency. But moving coil drivers have a more weighty impact when notes strike; it's a more visceral, organic feel that has its own merits. Some folks can't get past the electrostats' absolutely deadpan delivery of GOBS of detail and separation. I think each can give different perspectives and insight into the same music, though for headphones I've leaned towards electrostats since hearing the 009 -- and I also feel that they have the lowest listening fatigue at any given volume level. To its credit, the Utopia greatly mitigates some of the traditional weaknesses of coil headphones: graininess, poor treble quality, lack of detail/speed.

Again, I'm not sure these are good cans for rocking out LOUD. But they manage to be extremely pleasurable at moderate to moderate-loud volumes (low-volume critical listening is not my thing). And if you can play lower and derive the same (or more) pleasure, that's a good thing! I quite like them so far. Reminds me a bit of Milos' (user: nerdling) he90 clone, in that it was a wonderful sounding top-tier headphone, but clearly best suited for moderate listening levels.

This pair has a balanced Silver Dragon. Though I greatly prefer pure silver cables 9 times out of 10, the Silver Dragon seems to be an exception for me; I never liked it much back in the olden days of HD650 cable rolling. So I'm looking forward to the Draug Silver I have inbound. This Utopia set also has at least 400 hours, so burn-in isn't an issue. I'm driving them with a HeadRoom Max Balanced -- though an older amp, it's really impressed me (personally I'll take it over a GS-X any day).

If you’re in the US, you might want to wait 2 weeks. TSAV’s Blue Cobra and Black Cobra will be releasing at about that time and I think it’s really good. Our goal was similar to MrSpeakers and bring higher end cables to market at much lower costs than the typical resellers do. So far the cables are outperforming ANYTHING ELSE in the $300-$500 range.

Edit: Yes they are named after my Shelby cars :)

Even Alan and Wayne didn’t know until 4pm today. Only my brother knew I was doing this cable project. It’s been top secret until today

Also ordered a Draug Silver for my Utopia in a short length for my iBasso DX200 DAP. Should receive it anyday as the delivery was due yesterday. For my home set up, I use an excellent 21 AWG OCC silver cable. If I'm not mistaken, Silver Dragon is only 24 AWG so half the silver content in comparison of a 21 AWG cable. Draug Silver is 20 AWG so even more than the double of silver content of the Dragon Silver. You will most definitely heard a significant difference in performance. Especially with body and weight.

I will let know my impressions when the cable arrived and after about 100 hours of burn in.

How much is the Draug Silver for a 1 meter?
There is a lot of talk about silver cables on the Sony Z1R thread

I tried a Wireworld Platinum (pure silver) on my Utopias and choose the Axios Copper instead.
Tried an Axios silver/copper hybrid on my Z1R's and also chose Axios copper instead
All running from 1Z Walkman

All the silver talk on the Sony thread has me thinking???
