Iraq, Syria, public transportation... Seriously, it just made sense to protect them from the elements when in transport. They rarely leave home, though. Audeze provides similar cases for its LCD series.

I looked these up earlier today, their apparently the holy grail, be all and end all of headphones. Really looking forward to trying a pair of these out.

Just got mine today after trying them at CamJam last weekend, and I am a very happy camper right now. 

  I don't know if they are the be all and end all, but to me they are a (realistic) dream come true.  I'm sure that the $50k setup from Sennheiser is amazing, but it is not something I'd be able to afford now or in the foreseeable future.  The Utopias are definitely a splurge, but I should still be able to pay the mortgage.  

   
 
I will say that I thought I had some excellent headphones before and I still think that some of them are for their price range, but the Utopias are in another class.  The difference was immediately noticeable, even to my husband who has a high frequency hearing loss and a significant loss in one ear due to a sarcoma.
