Focal Utopia General Discussion

With the dealer's help I will try to test another new pair of Utopia just out of the box and see if they sound the same as mine.
If like the dealer says it's run-in, than another pair new out of the box should sound the same as mine...

It sounds to me it is brain burn-in rather than physical burn-in. But I do believe brain burn-in is more important than the other..

Thats fascinating... Not trying to beat a dead horse here :deadhorse: but is there any way that burn in would help the hot treble come down enough? Or would that still not be enough for your ears?
That was after 200 plus hours of burn-in.

Well thats a wrap then. Come back to your Utopian family now!
Yes, this is what happens when you experiment out of the norm. I hope lady Utopia treats my ears good for betraying her for that Audeze mistress LMAO!

My 4z experiment is coming to an end. The female vocals make my ears sensitive.
Sounds like the same or related issue I had with the LCD-MX4. The frequency graph showed a relatively benign hump peaking at about 1.5k but the reality was that the upper-mids went straight into my eardrums (female vocals, upper register piano, flute, etc). I have a new LCD-4 "experiment" incoming myself...

Good luck. Everything sounded just fine until I broke them in and now I can't manage to listen to them. Everything isn't for everybody.

How do you feel about bass impact?
Satisfying. I get more impact from my home set up but it is also much more powerful. But the DX200 - AMP 4 get the job done with the Draug Silver cable. Soundstage, clarity and speed are what stand out the most with the pairing.

Makes me glad I stuck with my 200 Ohm LCD-4. They just kept getting better and better with time. The Utopia’s are to good to let go and if they were my only headphone I would have to find another headphone to compliment them. With that said I’m sure your Utopia’s will welcome you back with open ear pads!!

Haha, yes, I've come to the conclusion that the only headphone I'll replace the Utopia with is with another Utopia, alaversion2. Lol. I just can't get over the sound signature.

It’s hard to imagine what Focal could improve upon to make the Utopia’s better. They sound incredible already

I prefer "mature" or "experienced."
I would just say "Experienced" because there are many "Experienced" people not mature! Right Jason? :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye::stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: ha ha ha.... (me included!)

cable costs them a fraction of 10% of the retail price...perhaps 1% or less
Based on some models I have seen normally the pure manufacturing cost is about 25% of the retail.

First of all I take offense of you smoking comment. I don't know you for you to address me like that.
Second, Do you know how much silver the cable has in it and the cost of it? I bet not.
My comment regarding the manufacturing cost is based on direct knowledge since I participated in a company that produced cables.
