Maybe this had been discussed before somewhere in the past 409 pages but do you have a preferred source / amp for your Utopia?

I listened to my utopia from a WA22, Venture electronics RA2B, RSA SR-71B, Cypher Labs Duet and even from an AK SP1000 and it still sound amazing through all of them.

The SR-71B was a surprise though as it really bump up the low end of the Utopia..
yes, it's been discussed. Lots like the Dave and other chord products. Many prefer a warmer amp, or a tube amp. We all seems to agree the utopia scales to better equipment site well.

I do not mean smooth that details are buffed out. I mean the treble is not grainy, but toward thin. I like that the best. Like sibilant breath can sound grainy side or smooth. Based on what I've heard of various sources(and this depends on DAC as well), treble can sound smoother or fine. I also don't like forwardness or punchy treble. Treble level and thin-ness changes the tonality as well.

have you ever heard the Questyle 600i? I am curious if that fits the bill or not in regards to treble. I feel it takes the edge off the HD800 very well, but keeps good extension. Just didn't know in regards to thin-ness what your looking for.

Funny you mention it. It actually does take the edges off, but it's overstatement to say significantly. The treble is interestingly not sharp and really not offensively forward compared to what it can be. Interestingly, it refined a sound of a headphone. The treble I wouldn't consider really fine as that level I hear on iems with particular portable sources.

Reason why I like iems is that the treble does't seem to get as offensive as full-sized even when it's not dark sounding, and they tend to push out finer treble if the source conveys it. But, I will admit I like the level of definition and more holographic sound, greater deph, larger stage that full-sized provides.

There's a bit of trade off between two domains. I find that iem tuning in tonality has been ahead.

Lol, I wouldn't doubt it, with these crazy prices nowadays.

Hahaha I guess we won’t know until they do release a new model or if NOMAX leaks more information

I also have a Draug Silver inbound for the Utopias. Looking forward to sifting through our impressions.

Received Draug Silver today at work. Really quick first impression in one word: Smooooooooth! Really, really promising with my iBasso DX200 as synergy goes. All the details and open sound expected but with a smooth fulness of sound. Absolutely stunning look and build too.

I will let the cable burned in and get back with more impressions in the next weeks or so.

The Chord DAVE for me. However the Utopias seem to be able to show to the best advantage anything it is plugged into. In other words you seem to hear the real sound your other equipment makes.
