Focal Elear - Impressions Thread

Finally tried the Clear OG pads with the Elear.

For my ears, the Clear OG pads bring a more liquid and coherent presentation overall, with more delicacy and detail, a better-defined soundstage and larger scale imaging. The only downside is that the bass sounds slightly more diffuse and slightly less dynamic. Clear OG pads much preferred over the stock pads for my listening tastes.

Set-Up (tweaky):
Focal Elear (with Clear OG ear pads)<--teknorob23 Neotech UPOCC solid cores 4x 28AWG silver + 4x 24 AWG copper cable<--DakiOm F273 Feedback Stabilizer<--S.M.S.L. Just swapped out the Topping D50s and swapped in the (much better-sounding) Topping E50.
Enjoying the Elear with Clear OG pads more than ever. Neither the Clear OG nor the Clear MG is needed or wanted.
: )

Once broken-in the Elear is a great performer regardless of used pads 👍
Couple it with a tube amp and it will shine as well.

For my ears, the Clear OG pads bring about a significant improvement over stock.
A lot of owners are switching to the Clear pads 👍

New headband, new earpads, new cable... I don't think I can call it "Elear" now. What do I call it :beyersmile:

Hotspot issues with these?

I cannot use Sennheiser 599 because of hotspot in the top of the head, and those are very light cans. Elear looks quite similar on headband but are waaay heavier. I have terrible pointy head, not made for headphones. Is this softer on headband part than HD599?

Have you tried good IEMs?
No I can use DT 1990 pro no problem because smart split design in headband and very soft. 1990 should be worse than 599 comfort wise for normal human but opposite for me and unfortunately Elear headband look lot like 599.. Im right now seeing a good deal for used Elear and comfort is the key here, no return possible if Im not happy like the new ones.

The lateral clamping pressure on the Elear alleviated (for me) most of the undue vertical pressure at the top of the head.
AKG K701 were the worst, as far as my experience with headphones goes, at aggravating that "hot spot" you mention.
