Yeah that's actually someone coming from that forum that derailed the FB comments and got on my nerve :p
I had a peak at the discussion there and it indeed looks very familiar. Could well be the same guy who likes to arbitrarily apply the term "axiom" to inductive arguments.

I wouldn't know... I just reposted Sammy's Facebook pictures... I was in no way influenced by a not-to-be-named source who knew I would be super excited about these... Not at all... :D

I will have to ask this unnamed source if I can demo them again the next time I meet up with him.

Man I'm pissed off with my ears atm. Every six months or so my ears get blocked (no surprise there). Was up the doctors last week for something else so decided to ask them to check them. When told the right was totally blocked, and the left partially (no surprise there) I asked was it ok to start oiling them ready for syringing (normally takes about 10 days before the appt :frowning2: ). I also asked was it ok to start given that I had a cold (which ironically was why I was up there)? Got told yes so booked the appointment for today and started syringing. Got up there in plenty of time and got told that because I (still) had the cold it wasn't a good idea to have them done and to wait at least a fortnight after the cold had cleared up :frowning2: It's more the waste of time that I'm pissed at if I'm honest :frowning2:

Hey folks! 'Wanted to share the latest instalment of A First Look, featuring Australia's premier in-ear brand: Audiofly! The veterans among you may've recognised them as one of the early birds in the high-end monitor race; their earlier offerings usually spoken in the same breath as JH Audio's original JH13 or Alclair's Curve. Now, years on, they've grown stronger than ever, and nowhere is that more apparent than their MK2 line of in-ear monitors. The hybrid AF140 MK2 featured below only sets you back US$300, and features one of the most well-executed bass-emphasised sigs I've heard yet. If your ideal tonality lies anywhere around Lime Ears' original Aether or Ultimate Ears' UE18+ Pro, this is definitely an IEM you wanna keep your eye on. :D

(P.S. There's a Rhapsodio Orla comparison there just for you, @davidmolliere )

Nice thanks

Always been curious about Audiofly :)
Your description reminds me a bit of an IEM I always regretted selling... Phonak PFE232

This being said my plate is going to be pretty full the upcoming weeks...
I have Dunu DK-3001 Pro and DK-4001 coming soon (Tour I am organizing here in France), then the YB04 and T01 on Monday (Tour), the EM10 (upcoming purchase aka self gift for my B-day), the Elysium and Erlkönig (Loan) mid November...

my head is spinning

Ah and I ordered a DITA Oslo (your review helped choose between this and Aegis 8w) to complement the Hulk... fun days!

You forgot to put the 'Sound Science' forum in there, which I believe sits around Tier 1 most of the time. Last time I posted there the entire village got the pitch forks out and mobbed me for trying to teach them about science. I think it says a lot about that forum that they will forcefully drive out anyone who tries to explain to them how science actually works.

The problem with self-professed "objectivists", from what I have seen, is that they try to be scientific, but fall short of the type of thoroughness and integrity that is required. That is completely understandable because enthusiasts are just that, enthusiastic amateurs, not people with the training, time and resources to do scientific research. However, some still hold their own opinion as an absolute truth because they feel they got there through "science". One of the key things that is missing is the type of understanding that scientists have (or at least should have) of the limits of their own knowledge, their own understanding, and the ability of nature to surprise us in unexpected ways. To me that is the most frustrating thing because those people, in my opinion, miss out on the best thing about science... Finding out you're wrong about something (i.e. the moment we gain new knowledge).

Just before the angry mob drove me out of the Sound Science forum I made a comment that I think is really illustrative of the difference between an enthusiastic amateur and a high-level scientist: There is a reason why something called "imposter syndrome" frequently occurs among world-class scientists (much more than they will let on publicly) and not in amateurs, who's level of conviction is much greater.

.... thank God i'm just a simple consumer... enjoying iems.

WOAH! I was referred to this thread by davidcotton and already excited to go through some of the conversations here, I'm looking to get my first ciem and have posted a post there >> https://www.head-fi.org/threads/recommendation-for-custom-in-ear-monitors.917186/#post-15249707

Off the top of my head, the two IEMs I'd recommend to you would be Alclair's Electro and Custom Art's FIBAE 7. If you tend to lean towards airiness and clarity (without brightness or harshness) and you don't mind a more neutral low-end, the Electro would be more ideal. Alclair also have locations in Nashville and Minneapolis. I have no idea how far or close they are to Cincinnati, but it's at least in the country. :D The FIBAE 7 would make the better pick if you like your vocals richer, fuller and more forwardly-placed, your lows warm and full as well, and your highs a bit softer.

EDIT: Woops, forgot to link my reviews of 'em.

Here's the Electro's: https://theheadphonelist.com/alclair-electro-elegance-eloquence-excellence/
And, here are my first impressions of the FIBAE 7: https://theheadphonelist.com/a-first-look-custom-art-fibae-7/
