New rule: It must also be paired with a DMP-Z1
Again I can't argue with that. I'll discuss the unplanned spend with my wife and revert.

The BLONs had it coming.

Yea well I was looking at a blon when I ended up with the Bird, so be careful now....This is a thread I'm reluctant to visit for fear of the hit to my wallet and throwing me off course from my goal of no more IEMs till at least September, a stretch goal of 2022. Then I read about BLON-03 and think what harm could it do?

Yeah I'm definitely very conscious of that! I have my other rule though: no IEM spend over $2k
When does yours land?

6 months ago, my rule was no more than $1k. Lol.
Landed yesterday! My impressions are on the Traillii thread starting here - https://www.head-fi.org/threads/ori...scussion-thread.956460/page-233#post-16437653
But it's unfortunately very good and going to stay. Is it worth it? No. But if you can afford it, you have to give it a go. After spending time analysing it, you just forget about all that nonsense and just listen to the music - to beat this cohesive listening experience will take some doing.
I have to play with the 1A FW - Midnight IMO opinion is not a good match, the W2 tonally sounds a lot better. I'm going to try FEv2 today I think.

Just when you think that the sound cannot get any better than P6 Pro. LP6 is here.
The best I can say is that the sound is even more “mature” and “refined” than P6 Pro.
How wide/significant is the difference between this one and the P6P with Mason FS?

I think the most striking difference is the energy and dynamics in sound. LP6 seems to be pushing all side of the sound to its limit while offering an extremely outstanding control of sound. With it, the sound from FS is “powerful” and authoritative. How wide/significant is the difference between this one and the P6P with Mason FS?
P6 Pro, in direct AB comparison, appears quite a lot smoother/slower and a bit more laid back. If I may make an analogy, P6 Pro is like listening in the sober bar. You can have the slow, smooth emotional impact from music. LP6 is like in the club or live show where everyone’s dancing with music.

I wonder how much of the difference you are experiencing is attributable to the amp section?Because that is a great description of how I hear the Mason FS using P6P without and with C9.

So more LP6 Platinum Edition pics. The back of it is made with the 越前漆 (Echizen Lacquerware), a Japanese technique to polish and color the wood.

The amp from LP6 is certainly way more powerful. It is designed to drive headphones like HD800s. In some way I do view it as having a built-in C9, and with a strong and and energetic style of sound.I wonder how much of the difference you are experiencing is attributable to the amp section?Because that is a great description of how I hear the Mason FS using P6P without and with C9.
