Can someone please un-sell me the Traillii on other bases than it's price? All I see is positive things and I'm trying to filter through it all. I've seen huge praise for other costly IEMs I would consider abominations. I can't bloody demo so would be a blind purchase..
🤷‍♂️

...and Romeooo!!!

Loving the Blue Merle - absolutely gorgeous!

Just on the Traillii - while I own one, I won’t try convince others to buy it or not. But in terms of looking for reasons not to (be it the bird or any other IEM) one must guard against cognitive biases. These self induced rules are often nothing more than fallacy. A good example being the “no DD is a cardinal sin” statement.

Trust your ears, not predefined constructs in your mind - especially if you’ve never heard it in the first place.

Same color pattern as my Frenchie, his name is Banzai 😁
Super cute guys! We have a bulldog puppy in the neighbourhood and you should see Barnie around him. Towering over the tiny pup, yet being super sweet and gentle with him.

That took a while, no Dynamic Driver, this is the best justification not to buy the Traillii besides the price. Did that un-sell you Greysongreen? If so our job is done.
how about pressure?
long use comfort?
4+ hours?

You have a point, guess we are back to having to come up with another reason that someone without hearing the bird should avoid it besides price.

I personally have not had that problem, not sure this is a universal problem, but why not add that to the reasons to avoid the bird.

Wondering if the whole question in the first place is impossible, because no one should decide not to buy the bird except because of price, without hearing it.

Yeah, I get it... No pressure. 😅

I am actually very happy using headphones now because I get discomfort from IEMs when I review too much and my classical music series has been quite labour intensive. So it is very nice to be able to give my ears some rest. I also feel that headphones can scale beyond IEMs and I love that. The D8000 were quite an experience.
I also experienced a bit of discomfort with the elf-king. I haven’t had an extended listening session with an IEM for a while now until this morning, and since I’m no longer used to the feeling of something is stuffed into my ear canal, it felt weird and uncomfortable. Perhaps my ear canals are getting smaller too 😅 Did you listen to the D8000 or D8000 Pro? I’m looking to get a companion for Susvara and D8000 Pro is one of the candidates.

Same here on the comfort and scaling. IEMs definitely have their advantages in portability and isolating external noise, for example (and perhaps on pure detail retrieval due to... maybe said noise reduction and/or maybe the differences in driver sizes?) but, for me, the way the music is reproduced on headphones is just more natural than in IEMs, from what I've experienced and interpreted at least.
Fully agree!

On another note one thing I've noticed is that spending ~$2k on cables doesn't seem to be the norm with full-size HPs as much as folks who use IEMs... wonder what gives? There's definitely the immediate suggestion and general need to upgrade cables but the prices seem to be mostly below the $1k mark.
That’s also my observation although there are some who bought JPS Superconductor and Danacable Lazuli Nirvana. I think they prefer to spend on other components In the chain and the cable seems to be the last on the list.

Yeah, my problem right now is that I listen both for reviews and while I am doing research for an upcoming lecture, so I have had IEMs in a lot as well as a lot of switching. Won't be able to use IEMs now for a bit because of the discomfort, so it is either the HD650 or earbuds (Astrotec Lyra Collection). It is quite frustrating and once again makes me more interested in both headphones and high-end earbuds. Although I am starting to notice that headphones are more tricky to use. My office is in the attic (where I still have the V380 demo), but I do a lot of my work in the living room so I can keep an eye on Barnie and open-back only works if my wife is not also working there.

I demoed the D8000 because the D8000 Pro demo unit was unavailable at the the time.
