I believe the universal M5 I demo’d had the -13 atom installed in it, when I got my customs they came with the M15 installed. With the M15 the treble is masked a bit more by the extra bass presence but I immediately swapped it out for the -13 as I loved the top end. :) So you are probably right.

Strange, the unit I tested definitely didn't

The universal M5 has a built in atom module (like the Tia Trio and Fourte), unlike the swappable ones from the U12t and U18t. That’s why you can’t see it :) you should see the vent holes somewhere on the shell.

You can get the customs made this way too if you do not want to swap them. But for $150 additional you get swappable modules and they’re all included, it’s worth it.

yeah, m5 demos had no swappables for me...just bunny ears.

a18t / elysium / m5 is the god trio for me right now.

Interesting comments on M5 now that more people have listened to them. My main issue with them was the somewhat in-your-face presentation and average stage/separation. Just wondering if anyone else felt that way.

Also regarding the 2pin adapter, it made the cable stick up too high and was not very ergonomic.
I thought the separation was good, but I didn’t love the intensity of the presentation either. Also hate proprietary connectors and wasn’t too crazy about the midrange execution. It’s not that it’s bad or recessed, but the treble and bass are sort of the focus of the IEM

Michael from Dune Blue is fantastic person. Got my U12T and HifiMan Arya from him. He also gave me a brand new U12T when the one I had started having faults and 64 audio wanted to repair them, but he just got it replaced. Was talking to him about getting the Heddphone, but @toranku gave his impression and I'll probably stick with buying a flagship iem instead.

Saw the pics of the meet up on his fb page, great work!! We'll have one here in Denmark and Fir Audio is going to be there. My hands are itching to get the M5 in universal but some said the customs are better with the atom modules instead which improves the bass quite a bit. And the dealer in Denmark is charging a bit more for M5 than the US price!!

@davidmolliere and @MrLocoLuciano between M5 and M4, which would you choose?
M5 definitely, if you have the budget. The Universal's also have atom tech, just that they are not swappable, the increase in bass quality has to do more with the seal .

To me the difference between M4 and M5 is more tuning (M4 smoother delivery and fuller bodied & M5 more energetic) than intrinsically better technical abilities, I prefer the M4 tuning but YMMV

Maybe I got used to energetic iems. But I find it's easier to tame an energetic iem with let's say, a tube amp, as compared to "waking up" a smooth iem

Yeah true, still the value for money is greater with M4 and if you like the signature then :D
