Hi Ali, Thanks fot the feedback and opinions on the Yamaha vs flc 8s. everyone is entiteled to their own ideas and i didn't feel offended even if you each to think my eim is rubbish

I think whaleshark12 has a point and i may have outgrown the eph-100 and need a new toy to play with. The 8s looks like a good replacement which i can tune to my liking.

It is placed high on my wish list.

Probably, I get tired of the Yamaha... Around the 6th month I think. I use it daily. Guy's toy don't just get bigger. It get much more expensive as well

Wish Forrest is here, probably he can take in some of our opinion from FLC's owner. That would be absolutely fantastic! I want a filter with 3x mid of the current gold filter

Hopefully he is able to fix the issue. Btw, is the black rear filter having no membrane on the back? I just check the grey does have some membrane on it.

BTW, guys: Since you're in the know about awesome yet obscure gear like FLC, have you given VE Zen 2.0 earbuds a listen? If not, start out with the $5 VE Monk and if you like them, step up to earning bliss with the Zen 2.0. DJScope can back me up on this. Zen 2.0 are it! Am I right?

Yeah the black is fully open. Its why that filter greatly affects isolation. It isolates pretty well with the clear one.
 
And oh yeah, I've had one of these since last friday. Spent most of the week listening to it, honestly I don't think theres anything I can add. Beautiful sound, wonderful timbre and just incredible imaging and separation. It is the most expensive IEM I've ever heard so I'm glad it is on that next level. I think the only difference I have to anyone is I like that black filter because I like the extra body.

  Well after spending some time today with the FLC 8S, I find that although the cable feels cheap and springy. It maybe be useful as it does't get tangle at all. I'm currently eyeing on the Null Audio's Arete MKII cable. But I'm not sure which connector for it.. http://www.null-audio.com/products/arete-series-mkii-replacement-cable-for-earphones TF10's connector?

 
I can confirm the TF10 connecters from Null Audio fit nice and snug on the FLC8S. Check it out:

The cable is nice. Cable noise is definitely less of an issue. I've only put in about an hour of listening with it, but my initial impression with the grey-grey-gunmetal setup is that the Arete cable improves soundstage and separation, perhaps at the expense of some end-to-end extension. Midrange sounds slightly more lifelike. Overall, the sound is a bit more smooth and neutral. Currently listening with the red sub-bass filter... Man, these things are sweet.
